The Republican Party back in 2012 was full of crazies. There is no redeeming qualities with these conservatives. Mitt Romney likes to portray himself as a moderate but he still played that Tea Party angle back in 2012.

Yep, also remember Romney sought out Trump's endorsement in 2012 (and he received it). At that time, Trump was only known politically for helping to spread the racist birtherism conspiracy against President Obama :mjpls:.



Romney was pandering to the "Trump base" back then because those voters are the majority of the Republican Party's voters (and has been since the 1970s/1980s). It's just that Trump (or a similar-type figure) wasn't at the top of the ticket until 2016.
