i can't take people serious who can't admit that this shyt bubbled from the local level and conveniently got attached to the dem pary, platform or not. the reality is, cities are dem enclaves, often dem led, and many "sympathetic" leaders actually have come to the table to discuss "defund"...out here, berkeley actually approved defunding their police.

when you see this happening at the local level, some members of congress supporting it, and the noisy media obscuring the meaning and attaching it to the dem party nationally, it doesn't matter if they ran on it or not, it becomes a general belief like dems being pro life. no it's not the only reason people lost, but that perception of dems being soft on crime and movement like this certainly can sway swing districts.

this is a failing of progressives, yes, the policy is good/right, but the wording is wrong, but because the policy is right, they won't accept critique or pushback that it's not landing because of how it's framed.
Agreed. If it's just comes down to a word, change it and keep it moving.

The biggest problem... that defunding the police is a necessary reform where corrupt police unions and department extort cities for ridiculous budgets without accountability or oversight.

Yet, these are closed door discussion not meant for the public.

Also it’s local issue

Biden making another statement :stopitslime: how many times is he going to come out and say "Be patient and wait for the results"?

I mean it's not like we have much of a choice. They're having press conferences just to fill timeslots at this point.

He’s playing politics. All about optics

I’m sitting here watching all these centrists lose and wondering if we are even talking about the same election. I’m sure big time progressive Steve Bullock would’ve fared better if not the defund movement. I mean if only for them leftist Cal Cunningham would’ve won in NC. nikkas sound insane and immune to self-reflection. The obvious answer is that Trump support was underestimated by everyone besides perhaps Biden himself and that wins in those red areas was always tenuous and all the money should’ve been spent keeping them. They went for Hail Marys and didn’t protect the ground they had. The Democratic Socialists didn’t run anywhere and weren’t featured prominently anywhere but a few local races and they won 80 percent of those.

It’s like any critique of Dem strategy triggers shytting on the left for no reason. It’s almost like you hate leftist activists who are black and brown and in the streets every day more than you hate a white woman scolding you from a district that Trump won 50 to 44 against Hillary Clinton. fukk is she talking about? They literally ran ads against her in 2018 criticizing her for teaching at an Islamic school.

I wonder if anyone realized that the word "socialist" was being used to attack Dems long before Bernie became relevant.

Obama was being attacked in 2008 for being a "socialist." I remember in particular they took a quote of his where he said something about how "spreading around the wealth" makes for a healthier, better society and used that as evidence that he was a commie. A big talking point was how Obama believed in "redistribution of wealth."

They are going to call dems socialists/communists/marxists/whatever no matter what. The question is: are dems going to let republicans define them, or are they going to come out and define themselves and then put the republicans on the defensive by pointing out who THEY are?

I for one think its despicable the way the GOP has abandoned Trump and his millions of supporters. The GOP doesnt deserve how great Trump made America these past 4 years. Its time for great RED blooded Americans to band together and stand up, show the GOP they no longer embody the true American spirit. They should get behind the new and greatest party ever, the Trump party. Trump party 2024!!!!!!!
