When you run on we aren't Trump then yea they are a lost cause. Trump picked up the Midwest states in 2016 because he ran on a plagiarized economic populist message that Bannon stole from Sanders. In 2020 he delivered on none of his claims of bringing coal back and saving Midwest jobs and now he is losing those states.

Bernie polled well in these areas because he was offering GND, 15$MW, UH, clean drinking water.

These areas are only lost to centrists that want to be pro corporate, anti union, IDPol based frontward facing platforms.
