Because of the end result of 2016, I think it's lost on most people how nasty and brutal the Republican primary was that year. I mean you had wives and children being talked about and roasted by candidates :russ:

You must be new. Hi welcome to the left. We ain't forget, we're just p*ssy. Why do you think we lose? We play with rules, throw someone under the bus for a slight infraction, and say stupid shyt like "I believe in the people".

The nominee said that the father of one of the contenders killed JFK.

The only reason people say 2016 was a "Brutal and divisive" democratic primary is because democrats ended up losing

the 2008 Primary was also terrible but democrats ended up winning, so everyone acts like it was civil. I was a teenager, and i still remember the dirty tricks clinton used against Obama.

Yup. I was 18 and it was my first time voting.

Thinking of 2008 and going to Obama rallies makes me pissed that energy wasn’t cultivated for real transformational shid.

Hillary in ‘08 was worse by a long shot imo. I feel like a lot of the 2016 behavior from her camp was projection based on how they’d behaved one election cycle prior and the reaction to her behavior hurt her image to a lot of primary voters. Like they saw their attack strategy failed and switched to using an attack based on being the victims of attacks. But that’s just a hot take for me.

This thread is literally a microcosm of why the Dems are going to lose in 2020 :scust:

I only wish Dems would go at Trump or the GOP half as hard as they do each other.

Nah, Dems lost because of a bad candidate who made poor decisions.

Plus millions of ppl decided they was gonna sit at home n elections don’t matter

Yeah but I'm not sure it'll be that much different this time. It doesn't seem like any candidate is going to be considered "good" by most Democrats.

The thing is, Dems had an advantage in 2008. There wasn't a Republican incumbent and Dubya was very unpopular (more unpopular than Trump is) so any Dem would've won.
