Bernie Sanders is the most popular senator/politician in america with tons of energy behind him. He has to register as a democrat to run as a democrat but he's been an "independent" his entire political career and is officially an independent as senator of Vermont.

Of course the democratic party is going to try "claim" him or plaster his face on their website or whatever. He's dabbled in the democratic party in recent years to run for president but is otherwise an outsider/adversary to 95% of the party (the progressive left caucus of the party (like 5 people) vigorously support him though)
He's less popular than Biden almost every poll I've seen.

Two quote @Shogun you should actually spend time talking to Republicans.

In general they view him as too radical and turns off moderate voters.

:yeshrug:

Bernie did sign the crime bill so he's got that going for him. He loves guns, despots, white people, and the "heartland".

Bernie really loves mixing the nationalism(white ethno nationalsim) with the socialism.

Bernie checks a lot of boxes for the right but the right wing taking heads paint him as a pinko commie.

Maybe I'm missing something here but why is getting rid of the filibuster even a serious hangup? It hasn't protected us from the worst things that Trump has thrown at us as far as I know.

Yeah, the filibuster is trash and is also racist.. its the reason why anti lynching bills never could pass in the Senate.

Get rid of that shid, its already gone for judicial nomination thanks to Harry Reid and it was the right move despite the trash heap Trump has brought

51 votes to pass Dem legislation is what we need in 2021

Only Warren and Mayor Pete have been outspoken on this somewhat

Thanks that makes sense to me as well

Why won't Bernie get o the right side of this then? His excuse about Trump supporting it is pretty pathetic as I'm sure you realize.

I agree, it is pathetic. It convinces me that Bernie as well as the other US Senators aside from Warren that are running don't want to govern.

Matt Stoller says it a lot on Twitter. Dems do not want to wield power and I'm starting to understand his point very clearly.
