Dope season
Deserving of a rewatch.
All the episodes didn't land perfectly, but the ones that did were God tier.
Favorite episodes of the season: Three Slaps and New Jazz

Side note: I like how "nice" white people are portrayed as weird and passive aggressive.

Fair… and thank you for informing me that you speak for everyone or the masses and you alone knows what’s cool and uncool.

At the end of the day, if you recognize it’s a joke (and especially when it’s not at you or your expense) just leave it at that.

Unnecessary shots feel childish when no harm is being caused

Lazy social commentary this season. I remember thinking how fresh and current the references the were in season 1. Little things like someone yelling 'WORLDSTAR!', the payola whiteboy using the n-word, the Blasian blogger, the BET/Montel spoof, and the shady Nigerian club owner. The cinematography was on point, almost imitating the trap music videos from 2014 onwards.

It felt like season 3 tried to cover many issues all at once without fleshing them out to a satisfying conclusion - every episode felt half-finished and maybe it's due to scheduling conflicts but 4 episodes of the main characters and it's just random escapades in Europe without actually showing the lifestyle rappers experience when touring overseas means either they didn't have the budget or didn't plan out the season properly.

I don't felt like it was lazy social commentary, but at times it did feel heavy handed.

Was not the strongest season but I took it for what it was, I do think there needs to be a bigger conversation about shows being produced during this covid era - damn near every show I watch has come back to mixed reception after having previous seasons that the majority loved; succession, ozark, top boy, snowfall, insecure just to name some.

Na… shyt was extremely unnecessary when I didn’t come at you like that. Nothing was earned.

I think that’s hoe shyt. If I called you out your name, disrespected or came at you maliciously dirty, you have every means. But that wasn’t close to the case

But it’s whatever, the lesson learned is “some folks you can joke with, some folks you can’t”

For me…. I think if it wasn’t for seeing some article or interviews. I’d probably have a lot of these mixed feelings too.

But it’s like after you watch those, you kinda get or understand where they were coming from with this season.

Now whether you like it or not, that’s another story.

But they openly been stating this was an experimental season. One interview, DG compared the way they view their seasons is to the Kanye albums, as the first 2 was “College Dropout” and “Late Registration” and this season being their “MBDTF” (or etc album and era where Kanye got weird)

The Kevin Samuels episode was eerie with the black and white plus it premiering days after his death.

He was in sizeable portion of the episode I wonder if he could sneak in a posthumous Emmy nomination
