Despite certain moments that were absolutely loveable, hilarious, and stylistically amazing, as a season this just wasn't executed properly to me. I'm clearly a Stan because I'm bingeing the whole thing again rn 
But this stuff just doesnt go together. Perhaps I'll adjust my expectations. I'm glad it was so ambitious but I don't be watching TV for ambition, I wanted to be entertained. Now that I've seen the whole thing, it was a miss.
And where I gave certain things a pass and I like that it's ensemble...I wanna see paper boi. Why the fukk would you do a finale about the rappers Manager's baby Mama's alternative life??? I get being weird with it but it's TV. You gotta have some kind of closure after you've been anticipated for years.
This was basically the Star trek Holodeck but every program is sponsored by Black Panther 2 and black Twitter.
Overall some great episodes and moments but it was too uneven. Ultimately, it's hard to say it was bad but I'm not sure who asked for this. Hard to enjoy something you didn't order.

I did find this episode too surreal for my tastes. The stories with the main characters have been leaning more and more in this direction this season, but this was overdone to me. Particularly with Van, who I always thought was one of the more grounded characters. Van at the end talked about the timeline. She was in Atlanta 2 weeks ago. So within two weeks, she hung out with Earn for awhile and then assumed this whole life?. Not that convinced that the mention of Lottie would snap her out of her funk. After all, she left the kid back home to come on this adventure. And IIRC, Earn asked her about Lottie earlier in the season.

My feelings on this season are mixed, but love it or hate it, there's nothing else like it on TV.

I enjoyed this season. Well not all of it. I actually enjoyed the short story episodes probably a lil more than the episodes with the main cast overall. A few of the main storyline episodes were good but overall they didn’t really do a whole lot as far of moving the story, it just kind of gave us the cast in a different setting. And the finale wasn’t bad but dedicating it all to Van when I felt like I haven’t seen her in like 4 episodes was just kind of meh. But I do respect the fact that I rarely know what’s coming when I sit down for an episode. I’m not upset though, everyone in the main cast have leveled up tremendously since this show started so I can see why we’d only get 5 episodes this season with them in it. I can be critical of the show but I will be sad as hell when it’s over. It’s truly a one of one

I want to watch the first joint again but that kinda stressed me out
I liked it more than the Kevin Samuels episode form the week before. It was really funny and they’d been showing Van’s mental breakdown all season so it makes sense that we finally got to see the climax of that and find out what was going on with her

I need to watch the Van episode but not including that episode I will say this.
None of the main characters experienced any character growth this season except maybe Earn becoming competent and that really occurred the final episode of last season.
Meanwhile the stand alone episodes are genius but are completely removed from the main characters. In the past at least one of the main characters would have been somewhat involved to give context to what we are seeing. I actually think it would have been interesting if they used some secondary characters to act in that place. Maybe have Tracey be the character who gets reparations, or had Van’s friend from drake house be the SW those crazy Cac bytches kill. Little shyt to tie those one off stories to the main cast would have given them context. It could have been stupid like saying Kevin Samuels was the second famous alumni of the high school after paperboi and have him make a joke like “paperboi wouldn’t do this, this is invest in your hood”. Little shyt to not have the main cast completely removed from the side stories and their consequences.
I actually think a lot of themes were recycled for the main character’s stories. Paperboi has gone on better mental trips in earlier seasons. The episode with Darius and Van having an adventure to show their chemistry already happened at Drake’s house. The main characters have partied before and had issues with the host not paying what he owes them every season.
The only episode in hindsight with the main characters that felt new was the episode when Paperboi’s phone got stolen and the Invest in your Hood episodes. In both episodes they are dealing with the consequences of Paperboi’s fame and fukked up situations that fame gets him into.
The main thing I really learned from this season, or at least was implied is Europe is creepy and mostly passive aggressive hostile like white people are in any liberal city.

I actually liked the last episode. I don't think it should have been the finale though. Definitely should have been the second to last episode seeing that none of the main characters showed up the last two episodes except for Van. People complain about this episode but if they didn't have it and the season ended those same people would complain about them never explaining what was up with Van all season.
