I played around with one at my Best Buy for a few minutes. The screen is nice but yeah it's iOS11 on another device without a home button and that notch at the top. I just can't forgive that notch. If Apple doesn't come to their senses and get rid of that crap this might be where I get off with them permanently. I'd rather have the phone have a top bezel that's a lil bigger and goes the full length of the phone than that weird cutout.

I find it hilarious how many of these YouTube personalities just become docile about the crap these companies hand down to them. How they come to accept it and deem it "the future" like the removal of the headphone jack for no good reason and now this notch.

The customer should dictate to Apple the kind of device they want and Apple should make that not the other way around. Instead Apple tells the customer what sort of device they will use and the customers just roll over and accept it even if they don't like it.

Props to Chris Pirillo. He stuck to his guns and said he wasn't gonna support the X and he didn't even though he's an Apple fanboy. The notch is just crap design. Why people accept it is beyond me.

Long read but some impressions using it awhile coming from the 7 Plus and Galaxy S8+ before that

A lot narrower than the 7+, will take some time getting used to if you're coming from a Plus or a 6" android. It's definitely an OLED screen but it's a lot closer to the LCD displays they've been using than a Samsung one, colors don't pop as much. If you don't like the unnatural Samsung displays then the screen is perfect, if you like those colors you'll be a little disappointed. I like Samsung's displays so I expected a little more saturation being OLED but Apple tuned it to what it's customers are used to seeing/sRGB so it's whatever. It's still a good display, I like skin tones on the X better than the S8+, everything else I gotta give to the S8/Note8. True Tone was the first thing I turned off. Instead of adapting to my surroundings, it made my display yellow in all conditions. shyt is trash.

Face ID is about a second slower to unlock the phone than a fingerprint from what I can tell, won't even be an issue this time next week. I like it a lot more than Samsung's offerings, the iris scanner always made my eyes feel weird after using it because I'm pointing a laser directly in my eyes. There's a health warning when you set it up for the correct distance to use it at but it's so finicky that you end up having to hold it in your face in an unnatural way to use it. There's a little more leeway with FaceID, less having to feel like I'm posing for a selfie just to unlock my phone and more of just looking at it. Blurring notifications unless I'm the one unlocking the phone and even changing Face ID so that it can only be unlocked when I make eye contact with it instead of just pointing it at my face is just better than what Samsung has out of the box.

I didn't even notice the notch going through the setup menus, screen just wraps around and buries it. Apps will have to be optimized and all video will be cut out around it for sure, might be a dealbreaker for some but I think a lot of the hysteria was overblown. I don't see it being an eyesore like some people want it to be.

Haven't fukked with the camera yet. Other than double OIS shouldn't be too different than the 8+ which isn't too different than the 7+.

Best iPhone so far imo, only way it wouldn't be worth the upgrade is if you fukked up and got a 8/8+. I wanted a smaller phone the Galaxy S8+/7+ and I like how they did the bezel-less display. I preferred the infinity display at first but there isn't any distortion from curved edges on the iPhone so I guess I like it more. Physical feel of the phone feels like this year's Galaxy phones, smooth and slick the whole way round with the glass back and treated metal. They're even the same phones when it comes to the facial unlocking/security features with Apple's being a little better imo. And I told you the silver one was the one to get but the grey has grown on me a little. It's just missing little details that the polish on the silver brings out without looking cheap or tacky.

Long story short: It's a Galaxy phone running iOS. If you never liked iOS it isn't for you, if you do, since is Apple looking at LG making the display next year the iPX is the closest we'll get to having the best of both worlds.

I like the way the silver looks but I think over time people will like the space gray more because the silver around the phone nicks and scratches easily. It will look rough after some months I’m sure (if they don’t keep a case on it at all times).

To each is own. I personally think the phone is better than anything out there right now. Probably doesn’t matter even if I didn’t like the phone, can’t see myself going back to android.

The 50% charge from dead in 30 minutes claim is legit. You can get 80% battery in about an hour.

I used the ANKER 29w charger and the apple cable to test. I will test the metrans cable, but apparently, apple is the only cable that does it. the phone DID get warm. coulda been cause I had my screen brightness all the way up to purposely kill the battery.

Full charge seems to be about 2 hours still. Next time I will try with phone in airplane mode during charging. Debating on wireless charging....will decide once the update is pushed out for fast wireless charging.

Samsung nikkas do ya'll get 15 watt wireless fast charging?

One year Samsung tried to remove the SD card from the Galaxy phones and the fans shat on them for it. Next year SD cards were back. That's how it should be. If a company does something it's customers don't like the customers should make that known.

They make this product for the customer not the customer buying the product for the company. Apple loyalists will seemingly buy whatever phone Apple releases even if Apple takes away stuff they want.

Maybe people don't give a damn about that notch and the headphones. I haven't used wired headphones in ages so that shyt meant nothing to me and the notch that's a case by case thing IMO.

Phone looks dope. I can't imagine myself buying it personally as spending a stack on a phone is insane to me. So you lot doing that much respect to ya. I've read and watched lots of video reviews on it and my only thought is the camera doesn't seem as amazing as expected for such a high price. I think there'll be a bit of a learning curve with the gestures and it'll take some getting used to. I dont think it'll be as intuitive as using the iPhone 8. Atleast not initially. Apple making a killing again though. :wow:
