in 2019 why would anyone with common sense trade their device into a retailer?

Anyone talking about 5G right now is a flat out idiot. 5G from a Consumer perspective is 10000x gimmick. The benefits of 5G are more so from an industrial/ Machine 2 Machine standpoint. The most consumers will get out of 5G is maybe some Augmented reality usage.

On top of that actual National coverage is probably 5+ years away.

Main thing they’re pushing is photos + videos. That space will run out quick with high res photos and especially 4k vids. Not everyone wants to pay more for icloud. I get what you’re saying but it’s still a joke

depending on your storage it looks like they are going for about 300 on eBay. At this point you might as well keep it as a burner lol. For an old ass phone I guess if they giving you more than 200 bucks go for it but anyone with an 8 or X better flip that joint.

It kind of makes sense with Samsung devices especially with Samsung.com. I got $600 straight upfront (no monthly discount) plus another $200 credit for my Note 9. Android phones just don't hold their value like iphones. You can pretty much sell your old iphone and get almost full retail for it. Flip that for the new one.

Mr. Mobile says 5G is ass. You gotta be standing outside looking right at the tower and your body can't be between the phone and the little tower. They should just make 4G better if that's how it's going to work.
