When the Nexus 4 was announced yesterday, there was one spec from the feature list that caught our eye. It’s called “SlimPort” and while it doesn’t quite have the “cool” factor of the Miracast wireless display, it does manage to get the job done in a more efficient way.

Using a technology developed by Analogix, you can use the Nexus 4′s micro USB port to output its display onto a television, monitor, or just about any display via a SlimPort accessory or DisplayPort cable (coming soon) but that’s not all. This new tech also allows the Nexus 4 to simultaneously charge and output its display, simplifying the whole process of getting your media from the Nexus 4 onto the big screen.

Analogix will be releasing a total of 4 SlimPort accessories in the coming weeks, but for now, the SP1002 HDMI connector is officially available for sale on Amazon (DVI, VGA and DisplayPort coming soon). It doesn’t run cheap, at $30, it’s not exactly an impulse buy. Still, for Android fans looking to snag a few Nexus essentials early, there’s no better time than right now.

I wish the Galaxy nexus had some more accessories. The only cool one we got was the pin dock and they were always out of stock for the Verizon version

They were 2 galaxy nexus. The gsm was smaller than the Verizon G.nex. I hate that it had no accessory also. The nexus 4 being unlock was a genius idea by google. It will get big support from the accessory manufacturers. The nexus 4 would flop on a major carrier anyways so why not sell it for the low and get people on your network. I can buy my pops this phone and he would be good. He dont need 16GB.

Asus selling nearly one million Nexus 7 tablets per month, CFO says

nexusdsc05220-1340897858.jpg

Asus Chief Financial Officer David Chang told the Wall Street Journal this week that his company is selling nearly one million Nexus 7 tablets every month. On Tuesday, the manufacturer announced a dramatic increase in Q3 tablet shipments, which jumped by nearly 200 percent over the second quarter, though both Asus and Google have been reluctant to disclose precise sales figures for the Nexus 7.

"At the beginning, it was, for instance, 500K units a month, then maybe 600, 700K. This latest month, it was close to one million," Chang said. These figures signal an encouraging trend for Asus and Google, though they're still far below iPad sales, which reached 14 million last quarter.

Chang's comments come just a day after Google announced the new Nexus 7 (32GB + Mobile) and Nexus 10 tablets, alongside the Nexus 4 smartphone.

THIS shyt IS SICK

Android 4.2 gallery and camera ported to Galaxy Nexus ATTEMPT AT YOUR OWN RISK. It might be buggy

You will need root explorer
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.speedsoftware.rootexplorer&hl=en

or
http://www.4shared.com/android/RkVVO6Et/Root_Explorer__File_Manager__v.htm

DOWNLOAD APK http://forums.androidcentral.com/at...54498-jelly-bean-4-2-camera-gallerygoogle.apk

NEXT Move the gallerygoogleapk to system/app folder in Root Explorer. Make sure the permissions are set to RW-R-R. Reboot.

Let me know if anything doesn't work, it works fine for me (see pics below).

http://forums.androidcentral.com/at...54498-jelly-bean-4-2-camera-gallerygoogle.apk

Oh, and don't try to install it. A reboot with the proper permissions set will populate it . If you want, remove the other camera/gallery, which for most is Gallery2.apk.

That awesome camera app, as well as the new Gallery we saw from the upcoming Android 4.2 release can now be installed on your Galaxy Nexus running Android 4.1.1.

There's still a bug in the photosphere portion, but dmmarck, the fellow working in it, says he has some ideas and will continue to look at things for a fix.

Be sure to visit the forum thread for the full instructions, as this one needs a bit of hackery to install.

Android 4.2 multi-user feature will not support phones, an existing Nokia patent might be why

The Nokia patent was granted in 2005 and highlights a system where users are able to utilize different settings and account information on one shared mobile phone. Here is the exacting wording from the older Nokia patent:

A mobile telephone is designed to be used by several different end-users at different times. A first end-user can alter the mobile telephone so that it operates in a manner specific to that first end-user and a subsequent end-user can alter the mobile telephone so that it operates in a manner specific to that subsequent end-user; wherein each end-user has only to respond to prompts displayed on a screen in order to alter the mobile telephone so that it operates in a manner specific to that end-user.
