So another one hit wonder winner? :heh:

Still haven’t seen Oppenheimer, but everything before that, you gotta go back to the 2000s to find a decent movie worth watching today. Even with that in mind, I don’t know if anyone gonna be talking about those movies decades later. Maybe Gladiator? I like Departed, but I’m not sure if that’s a film plenty will bring up with high regard.
It's been some great best picture winners past 2000. I'll just use LOTR: Return of the King as an example. That's far from a one hit wonder

Do you guys even understand what I’m saying? I literally said there hasn’t been a decent selection of replayable Oscar winning movies since the 2000s and listed a few. :snoop:

Look at the movies that won in the 2010s. Most are just one and done films that I doubt people will play over and over again or talk about decades from now. Maybe Coda, but only because a deaf dude was the star.

I’d rather watch Hatchet or Big Lebowski over and over than those films. :russell:

Again, I’m not saying those movies suck. I’m just saying they don’t have replay value.

You’re conflating your preference as a fact which is confusing things.

You say there isn’t a decent best picture since the 00’s but when others go on to make a list you say they’re good just not what you like.

I don’t want it to come off as an attack but you should word it better.

How the fukk do you take an opinion as something close to a fact? :what:

From the first sentence about mentioning one hit wonder Oscar winners I made it my point to say most of the winners from the last decade and change have been nothing worth watching over and over. Somehow you guys took it as me saying they’re not good, which I never said anything close to that.

I knew exactly what you're saying, but if don't think Parasite or No Country for Old Men has replayability then it's just a difference of opinion :hubie:

glad Mikey won. she was magnetic. that movie delivered on the hype. the narrative that Demi Moore deserved it for the body of her work was bullshyt the whole time. she's not an acting legend. she's had a great career, but at almost no point in the past 40 years were people slobbering over her acting abilities. i don't even know what would qualify as Oscar baity shyt she's done. Ghost, GI Jane? one of the John Hughes adjacent movies? showing her t*ts in Showgirls? Mikey showed her t*ts in a better movie.

I liked Anora but at no point while matching it in the theaters did I think “this is an Oscars winning film”. That crew must be well connected behind the scenes cause I genuinely don’t get it. 5 Oscars? Damn

It’s just how you worded it that messed me up but it all comes down to different opinions.
