Only three black women have ever won AOTY. THREE. And no black woman in TWENTY FIVE YEARS.

Beyonce, whether you like her or not, is THE premiere black female artist of the last two decades, her not winning AOTY should absolutely be called out as loudly as possible

I simply disagree. Looking at her past losses, the only one where she has an argument was the self titled one that lost to Beck. But if they hadn't done their patented "curveball every few years" trick that probably would have gone to Ed Sheeren who sold more records.

The rap categories not being broadcast on the main show was a bad look.

I knew Mike was gonna win rap album cause he campaigned hard.

Campaigning don’t really mean shyt he just had a lot of passion surrounding the album. The writing was on the wall when he scored the Best Rap Song and Best Rap Performance noms for a straight bar heavy track that didn’t chart. For comparison Nas submitted both Michael & Quincy (Bar heavy) and One Gun One Mic (popular feature) and couldn’t get the additional noms so obviously voters really took to Michael.

Still wasn’t a better album than KD3 but thats how the cookie crumbled. I would have been even more offended had that bullshyt Travis Scott album won.


With this win Killer Mike actually broke Nas’s record for being the oldest rapper ever to win Best Rap Album. He’s now only the only rapper to ever win Best Rap Album with an uncertified album up against multiple certified albums. He’s also the first rapper to win with an album that debuted outside the top 10 on billboard.

Last year to Harry Styles is an argument too. Personally I thought Adele had the best album musically but if it wasn't going to her it shoulda just went to Beyonce

I mean you can disagree all you want but when even the white people who beat you are coming onstage saying their win was fraudulent and you got robbed it speaks to more than a niche consensus that Beyonce not getting an AOTY even once is fukking ridiculous

I don't know why people get so bothered by it being called out that Beyonce should have won AOTY by now. Adele already pointed this out in 2017 like you said. The fact that it still has to be broken down in 2024 is comedy.

It's not just her, either. Kendrick not winning AOTY at any point is crazy to me as well, but that's another topic. Let's just do some stats here: Beyonce has won more Grammys than anyone else, but none of them were for AOTY. By contrast, Taylor Swift now holds the record for more AOTY wins than anyone else. Is that something we're all aware of and can acknowledge is strange?

Taylor has won 4 AOTYs in the last 15 years or so. A Black Woman hasn't won in 25 years. Let that sink in

Its zero chance Taylor swift has had the best musical offering for a year once, let alone however many times they want to prop up her shytty shallow music



In 2020 the weeknd had one of the biggest albums in history and got zero noms. Idk how yall do this every year like this shyt fr lol
