Didn't we have terrible GMs for that entire time period? A QB of Watson's caliber (and he is better than Stafford) is worth ten first round picks.

If Watson wants to come here, and we know he won't, you have to do what it takes to get him. 3 1sts is reasonable. Good teams find talent in the later rounds anyway.

It makes zero sense. You kill the cap and lose three 1st round picks, preventing you from adding elite talent on either side of the ball. This roster is bad…really bad. I’ve seen enough Lions teams that had a good QB plus a handful of good players with zero depth to know this is madness.
We have an opportunity to get a game changing defensive player at 2, and then best player available at 32. Perhaps one of the best WRs in the draft for instance. That’s how you build a team. Watson should go to a team that’s already built to win now. Steelers, Colts, Niners, Bucs etc. VS coming here and winning 7-8 games at best.

The offense is literally a couple WR away from being complete. Watson with our oline could win the division. It’s not going to happen but if you can get a top 10 qb entering their prime you don’t pass that up

on top of that Goffs cap hit for next season is 30 million. An extra 5 won’t destroy our cap.
On top of that, QBs of his caliber are gonna be $45+ million cap hits very soon. His contract is actually a bargain.
