Well what moderate would you choose because you need to reach out to that side of the party if you like it or not. You mentioned Trump and Pence and how he doubled down on the crazy but it's not true, he reached out to his weakness, the religious nuts, pence helped cement that vote. Bernie is going to have to do the same. In like klobuchar because her voice and story resonates in the rust belt, and that's where we're going to have to win if we want to win this election. Plus she probably helps lock up Minnesota which might be more purple than blue, and Republicans are pumping money into there because they think that's a state they can flip.
Minnesota isn’t purple. There was a low turnout and Trump got closer than expected is all. Keith Ellison just won AG there while facing sexual assault charges. If you have to pick a moderate. The smart move is to pick someone who is inoffensive like the governor of Michigan. She would actually be my pick if you go that way. Swing state, woman, Democrat, center-left.

Interesting

Secondary to the primary so had been thinking about the VP race and who might be in line. Still think Kamala is lurking but Baldwin is something to ponder

.....Amy is terrible. I’m okay with a moderate I guess, if they can get on message, but going with Amy would be terrible
You should go with who people know, I can't name many other moderate that the people know

No one knows Amy who isn’t locked into this campaign. No one knew who Sarah Palin was either and she momentarily saved McCain’s campaign. Sanders problem is because of his age he has the same McCain problem. Can your VP handle the job on day one? Amy just might win that argument. I wonder if he goes left field and gets Kamala Harris.

He's improving with African Americans. He's strong with Latinos. We'll see if unlikely voters turnout but I agree that's not a strategy to count on and if he wins the primary it'll be as a normie Dem.

Positive media coverage by who? FOX and the right? They'll be at war with any Dem. MSNBC is already negative as fukk on him right now. He isn't getting major newspaper endorsements. I mean, he is an anti-establishment politician.

Despite the divisions of the Dem party, I think they'll be largely united to get Trump out office.

Bernie attracts independents.

I'd say Bernie is a stronger candidate than John Kerry in 2004 if we're talking about Dem nominees facing incumbent GOP presidents. Atleast I know Sanders will fight back against the GOP incumbent and not lay down like a bytch.

That means it'll be another close election.
is this because he has done something to reach us or because he looks like he can win :usure:

regardless of which wing of the party wins the nom, most of the electorate wants nominate someone "who can beat trump", the uptick in bernie isn't due to all of suddenly more and more people believing his policies or wanting be part of the revolution, just like bloomberg's polling isn't some desire to be republican lite...it's because they're one of the few looking like they can win. that said, bernie definitely has a dedicated base that shows up at events the way trump's base shows up, but this election won't be a validation of where the party stands IMO (things are going "too well" with the economy and trump avoiding a war actually works better for him than had we entered one) it will be one of do we get a corrupt racist president out or not. we're going to be right back in this tug of war in four years

We'll see breh. We'll see.

That NBC poll had some interesting numbers. Some are good for Bernie (independents) but some are bad. He's going to need a quality woman VP candidate tho. This bloc was vital for us in 2018.

still confirming what 2016 made clear to the world - white women are :trash:

What happens when Bernie is president and he can't intact any of his policy. Will his base put in the work to get other dems/independents agreeing with his policy changes.

I see Bernie plainly calling out whoever isn't down with the program and letting them explain to the American public why they won't fall in line
