I'm not sure I know exactly what you mean by "traditional roster" in this situation breh

Simmons is a NBA small forward, that has to play 4 because he's literally allergic to shooting. You can't have a team that has players that play traditional roles with him on the floor. You have to have a do-it-all garbage man 5 because Simmons isn't a rim protector. He can't shoot so he has to have the ball in his hands to be effective, which means that 9 times out of 10 you don't want to have a ball-dominant guard on the floor, so instead of having a PG run the show, you turn your guards into 2 shooting guards. And because of how this changes the floor, you'll need one dedicated wing defender at the 2 or 3 to stop penetration because Simmons will give up buckets or FTs to attacking guards.

So in order to build around him now you have your PF (Simmons) playing PG, your PG playing SG, your SG/SF both need to be great shooters and defenders, and your C basically will be a garbage man. It's hard to craft a roster like that just to tap into the talents of one player. I don't see Simmons fitting into any roster in the NBA as is.

:deadmanny: Yu talking out yo ass. Like Jalen Rose said positions are only for a novice to follow the game. Finding scoring guards are a lot easier to find pass first traditional PGs.

I think this is one of the more important differences between Simmons and Ingram. Ingram is basically plug and play in most offences - it's easy to fit in an athletic wing that can shoot 3's no matter what type of roster you have. And like you said for Simmons, it's more of a situation where you have to craft your offence around his strengths as a point forward playing the 3 or 4. That's not necessarily a bad thing to be honest, just makes it a bit more challenging when building a roster around him.

I don't buy the "rich man's Odom" talk. Odom had way more shake to his game, longer arms and was a better shooter even going back to his Rhode Island days.
They don't have to be clones Bruh it's a close enough comparison. I don't think he's a "rich man Odom" I think they're just as good as each other. Odom in the NBA today is a muiltiple time all star

Yes you can

Play him at the 4

But like I said if you have a ball-handling 4 that can't do anything in the half court then the floor becomes lopsided and weird.

There's not many EFFECTIVE shooting PGs that can go out there and get you 15+ PPG off the ball. Ask LeBron, it took him a long time to get himself one.

Emphasis on "off the ball"

Btw where did Ingram being a great shooter come from? :mjlol:

But I'm the one talking out my ass :what:

Ingram is at worst the 3rd best shooter in this draft, and one of the best all-around scorers in it.

Doesn't have the length to protect the rim that well either, and he doesn't seem to give a shyt about defense in general but maybe that will change
