Yeah I've seen the platform, it's dogshyt. I'm not advocating blindly voting for downticket Republicans. I just don't see Donald Trump being beholden to the Republican establishment that he hates and who hates him.

I think it was initially, but it's transformed over the past 4 or 5 months. I didn't see any egregious religious bigotry on display last night, I didn't see any racism on display last night. He spoke explicitly about helping the African-American and Latino communities that have been left to languish under the current economic regime. Yes, he's a nationalist. If you only consider voting for globalists, then Trump isn't your candidate. I personally don't believe a President privileging American citizens over foreign citizens is disqualifying.

I personally don't know any Trump supporters, and from what I've seen, I don't think I would have much in common with them. But I think you make an interesting point about the malleability of their views. I think it points to the fact that the political establishment on both sides of the aisle have lost touch with their constituents. Congressional approval is at dismal levels, and people are fed up. Rightfully so, as they see their standard of living decline while the wealth gap increases. These are the people who make up Trump's supporter base, which is very different from the traditional Republican establishment, whose preferred candidates were Jeb Bush, Ted Cruz and Marco Rubio. Those are the #NeverTrumpers, the people who supported Iraq and trickle down economics. I haven't seen any Bush 41 or Bush 42 heavyweights come out in explicit support of Trump. The traditional establishment Republican intellectual leadership has not and is not fuelling Trump. They're mortified that he's talking smack about these trade deals and military policy.

There is a cultural element involved, with Trump being so non-PC, but again I think it just points to how distanced and unrepresentative the political class in America has become from everyday people. Again, I don't know any of these people, they don't make up my social circle, but I really don't care how dumb they are or what accent they speak with, I'm just trying to look at each candidate objectively and make up my own mind.

So Drumpf managed to alienate himself further away from conservative with the petty insults on Cruz. Great. He might have undone whatever bump he got year from that ego driven rant
