Ehhh, ain't nothing else dropping. Time for my year end list I guess. There has been plenty of good music this year, but very little great music. Here's hoping to a better 2017
Album of the Year:
Anohni "Hopelessness" -- This is my first album of the year since 2008 that I have not rated a 9.5 or better, although it is borderline. I just can't get enough of blistering emotional vocals on top of pounding electronic beats. This album was the next level up from Bjork's masterpiece last year. There are a couple weak spots here and there but they are more than made up for by the highs
Runners Up:
Kanye West "The Life Of Pablo" -- This album had the skeleton to be an instant classic AOTY. All it needed was a good editor and engineer to fix it up. But Kanye never would have allowed that, so it is what it is. A brilliant, yet heavily flawed album that I still can't get enough of.
Bon Iver "22, A Million" -- Can't really expect anything less from Bon Iver. Only thing that held this album back from instant classic status was Justin Vernon's insistence on singing in his normal voice too much. Bon Iver should be all about that falsetto
Beyonce "Lemonade" -- I am not a Beyonce fan, her voice has never captured me. But this album did, due to its near perfect construction, writing, and production. By far the best pop album I have heard in years.

Song Of The Year:
Bon Iver "33 God" -- I had trouble picking a favorite song this year. All the top contenders were nearly equal to me. So I tried to imagine which song I would be most likely to queue up on my MP3 player 5 years from now for a quick listen. And this was the winner. Perfection on record.

Kanye West "Ultralight Beam"
Anohni "4 Degrees" or "Drone Bomb Me"
Beyonce "Sorry"
James Blake "Modern Soul"
