I can't even begin to digest that Animal Collective record right now. Waaaayyyy too dense of an album to listen to a stream quality that is

Lot's of it just sounded flat and lifeless, and I don't know whether to blame the shytty quality or just a poor production job. And at the same time, having to "unlearn" the songs that I was already familiar with through youtube is going to take a few listens, because they really are quite a bit different here.

Going to wait for the retail to drop before I really give it another chance.

Oh, man, I get what you were saying about that album Adam, that sounded incredibly muddy for most of it. Gonna need a much better rip to properly assess it.

On a first listen though, it....didn't impress. I liked it, but unlike Merriweather Post Pavilion, which was done in a style that I didn't care for but was good enough to really make me like it, this was just...I dunno. It just seemed like it was less than it should have been.

I'll wait for a better quality rip though.

I have given it another couple listens just so I can familiarize myself with it more before the retail drops. After 3 listens I do not like it any more than I originally did (meaning, its OK but still disappointment).

But yeah, this stream is shyt so I need to hear it more polished before saying any more.

Animal Collective has grown enough that I consider it really good...just not an album of the year contender like it should have been

The XX album I'm torn on. I like every song, but they made the same song 10 times and their schtick is starting to get old.
