If you like every song whats the issue lol.

Liking each song individually on its own is separate from having to listen to the same song 11 times in a row.

It is too formulaic, which may be Ok if not for the fact it is the same formula they had on their first album too.

Just once it would be nice for them to not sing a mid tempo, whispered love song with some low, ominous synths and the occasional drum loop thrown in. They are damn near a caricature of themselves at this point.

Only reason I still like them is because I have yet to hear a song of theirs and say ''I hate that song''

Thats their thing though. Its like expecting Foo Fighters to up and start sounding like The gathering or something. Only band I've got into recently that completely changed their sound completely was the editors with their last album. And even then it was still decidedly their style.

When they start making horrible songs then I will shyt on them, until then I mess with the XX. Not everything has to be an epiphany when you listen to it imo.

Whats the rip quality like on the AC album?

There is a straight rip of the stream which is a bit rough and muddy. Worth a listen strictly to familiarize yourself with the songs, but not good enough for a real critique

There is also a 'new' rip going around which claims to be from CD but it appears to just be the stream rip that someone EQ'd to brighten it up a bit.

There isnt a true, high quality retail rip yet. Album drops overseas on 8-31 so I'm just going to hold off on downloading anything else until then because the fakes are everywhere.

Bands usually don't change up their styles like that until the 3rd album, I've found. By then, they've toured enough and written enough that they know how their "sound" works, and then will attempt to grow from there. The second album being that departure is actually kind of rare.

I haven't listened to the album yet, since I've been busy with moving. I'll try to get an hour today to do so.

As for the Animal Collective...I got my hands on a 268 kbps rip (Which I also haven't listened to yet), but I'm probably not going to share that one; I tend not to do much under 320 or FLAC quality. I'll see.

So...off of a first listen of Coexist...

I'm making exactly zero snap decisions about it. I definitely wouldn't call it the same as the self-titled, but it does have more similarities than I would have thought.

I was going to review Fragrant World, but this requires my attention. I'll hopefully get to that this weekend.

Man, for me this year has been just so bad. Beach House is the only album I would give at least a 9 to, and I can count on 1 hand the number of albums I would even give an 8 to. Up to Grizzly Bear to save the year.

Year has been pretty ass so far I agree. Bat for Lashes will drop a gem I forsee and if CC make an album almost as good as their last I'll be fine with this year. Oh and the gathering has released fire this year so their is still a lot of hope

All pretty good albums. Hardly a vintage year though. Funny you mention Beach House. Thought that shyt was average as fukk.

Hip Hop has been very strong though IMO.

The thing about 2012 is that most of the hyped releases have been underwhelming, while the stuff that you have to dig for or just came to light this year has been where you find gems. There are exceptions, but for the most part, this is how I've been seeing the year play out.
