What works for him won’t work for everybody else. It’s still a risk. You got to be a total nutcase to put your entire life savings in crypto.
I agree about crypto, a lot of speculation going on. Even if you diversify you still need to understand what you are getting in to.

I wanted to get into it but I don’t know much about it, plus I heard you can lose money in a blink of an eye. That made me fall back on it. Always gotta do your research before getting into something risky like that.

Darren Rovell is stupid. It will go back up. Then Odell will tag him in a Twitter post :russ:

:manny:Guess he’s not willing to get in it. He’s a sports card and memorabilia collector so he’s old school. Those kind of things also are like the stock market. Prices go up and down when a player does well or not.

There's nothing wrong with investing in crypto. Investing a majority of your money in crypto is stupid as fukk. If you want ot throw like 5-10% at it that's fine tho.

He didn't invest the majority of his money. In fact he put in about 5-10% like you said.

He was with The Browns for most of the year. They let him go and he became a free agent. He got paid by The Browns for the games he played plus they still owed him over $4 million. The Rams gave him 750k in salary for the remainder of the season plus a 500k signing bonus and another 3 million in incentives.

He allegedly only took the 750k in Bitcoin. Still has up to 3.5 million from The Rams, 4 million from The Browns, and at least 6 million in endorsements. Not to mention hell be a free agent in the off season and will get a decent contract.

Odell isn't hurting. He was better off investing in July or now when the market is down. Bottom line is that 750k isn't hurting him and he'll be okay once Bitcoin bounces back. Lot of people make the mistake of buying high. He'll learn from this.

:dwillhuh: @ them taxing on the 750 instead of the actual value. Taxes are a scam, but that's the government sticking it to crypto. at the same time, signing for crypto during a bull run was not a smart move.
the bigger problem is the way the government is taxing crypto

I work in finance. One of our bosses in the investment management division who manages a portfolio of over 30 billion told us 'no matter how tempting never ever invest in something you don't know in and out'. Doesn't matter if it's a stock, wine, art, cars, gold, crypto anything. If you don't know and can not explain or understand something don't invest in it.

"ItS NoT a LosS UnLesS you SeLl!"

I"ve worked in investments my entire life, and never heard this idiotic phrase used until the Crypto and WSB bro's gained an audience.

My takes:
  • Its incredibly foolish to accept your salary in any form of speculative investment. And although CEO's are mostly paid off of stock options, at least they have some semblance of control on their performance.
  • Just because something has ostensibly 'dipped' does not mean that it cannot fall even further. In other words, there is nothing preventing Bitcoin from falling to $10k. In which case selling at $35k would appear awfully prudent.

Same here breh.

I was VP in Investments also. This has been my lifelong career. No one is 'right' and every person's investment strategies will vary but I do have certain issues with the investors which have come out of WSB, Reddit, Elon Musk and Crypto and NFT mania. They're rather interesting as for people who claim they hate investing and taxes etc they appear comfortable putting their net worth into this asset class. I still don't get why they don't simply see it as what it is. One investment vehicle which should be one of many (?)

I was also paid in stocks and also got a commission fee. BUT PEOPLE ALSO GOT MY BASE AND CASH BONUS LOL. Usually, stocks is part of your package. You usually get base, cash bonus and stocks. Who elects to have their entire pay in crypto? LMAO. Why ?

Man, I just wish people saw this as another part of their portfolio (cool addition, keep eyes on it) rather than banking everything on it. Sigh.
