Same here. I bought a toy gun once when I was young, soon as my grandma saw that shyt, she took me to go throw that shyt away. And this was a little six shooter with orange cap.

The difference here is they aren't expressing sympathy for a slain criminal.
They're expressing concern over the murder of a damned 13 year old.

Its a sad situation and I can understand why a police officer would think it was real but yall need to ease up on criticizing the kid. A 13 year old child does not have the same judgement as a grown man. As adults we can rationally determine that it isnt wise to walk around with a toy gun that looks real. At 13 he naively thought everyone would know it was a toy. We have all done things as children that we wouldnt do as adults, unfortunately it cost this kid his life. In this situation all we can do is show EMPATHY for both parties and leave it at that.

They yelled at the teen to put the weapon down. He had his back to them and began turning around towards the officers, the statement said.

“One of the deputies described that as the subject was turning toward him the barrel of the assault rifle was rising up and turning in his direction. The deputy feared for his safety, the safety of his partner, and the safety of the community members in the area,” the statement said.

Sounds to me that as soon as the kid turned around he got lit up because the cops were scared. I dont see anything that indicates he was making any menacing gestures. If I were a cop I would be scared too but you are acting like the kid was trying to commit suicide by intimidating the cops or something. To say you have no sympathy for a 13 year old kid is disgusting to me.

No not at all if i felt that way i would've said that. I dont either but he was walking thru the streets with an ak on him not a bright ass super soaker. He was a young kid who thought he wasnt dojng anything wrong but you cant walk around strapped like that thinking nobody will notice

I really wonder why police don't shoot below the waist. Poor kid was probably turning around to say it's fake and got killed. I can understand if he had his finger on the trigger when he turned around and it was pointing at them.

I didn't get that spooky feeling reading this. I will say it's tragic and if the cops were super on point that day then they could have done differently, but it seems reasonable to be scared of a young teen with a fukcing chopper turning toward you. This is the absolute deadliest situation I can think of in any hood USA. Thugs that age still think they playing GTA.
