Also people get Two tracking confised with punching in.
Two tracking us not punching in, at all.
Two tracking is the equivalent of you rhyming with yourself in reel to reel like you were in a group.

Except you are a solo performer on reel to reel.

Creating different effects in vocal tonality and pocketing flows.
Two tracking is not punching in.

Punching in is some ol bullshyt.

biggie never advertised it

BIG was doing it RTD. According to Premier himself

Hov started doing it on RD because he had to memorize them Sauce Money verses before he hit the studio and it developed from there

It kills 2 birds with one stone. So ya writing and praciticing performing it at the same time instead of spending time writing, then recording seperatley and trying to get it down right. Its like writing “flows” before the words.

Helps when you have writers block. Forces you to put shyt down. Its literally no different than writing normally ya just using ya voice instead of a pen. Usually takes me a few sessions to get what i want out of it until im happy with the whole thing as ill delete lines and keep the stronger ones and then go back at it over and over til done.

It helps maintain flow

Me myself once i write something im stuck with that flow in my head. Its hard for me to visualize the flow while im writing, this way corrects that.

I usually go bar by bar now soni can maintain flow and whatever i dont like i just rewrite it afterward.

Its helped me finish shyt immensely.

Punch in definitely have a purpose, but a lot of these new age rappers use it as a crutch

They really can’t rap, it’s just a copy/ paste project. I think it’s super wack

Yep,that’s why you don’t see live freestyles much anymore

They really don’t know how to actually rap
That’s why XXL needs to re-vamp the way they present some of these newer artists. Have them in the studio knocking out their song process on the spot or something. Doing a cypher is a dated thing for those types of artists.
