:comeon: Billups had an expiring contract which they could have traded

they coulda just amnestied Amare if they wanted Chandler so bad

A year ago exactly, a lot of Knicks fans were saying this:usure:

amare was comin off a solid season (mvp candidate the first half)
and his last game before he got hurt he beasted kevin garnett and the celtics in da playoffs

dude just came to the team
amnestied him for what?

If the Knicks didn't amnesty Billups we would never have gotten Linsanity. :smugfavre:

But the proposal was vetoed by James L. Dolan, the Garden chairman, before it ever reached the Raptors

This invalidates the entire article. There were never any trades.

Beck now covers the Nets. Knicks just blew out the Nyets, plus the Nets blow.

What to do? Write a smear piece about the Knicks. Transparent as f*ck.

As much as I think it was dumb to amnesty Billups, that had to do with paying so much for Chandler (which has turned out to be a very valuable investment).

The new CBA really devalued the expiring contract, especially depending on what team you have, so trading Billups probably doesn't net you what you think you'd get.

why is that just about every single person who says Amare & Melo can't co-exist conveniently forget that the Melo/Amare/Tyson trio went 9-2 under Woodson before Amare got hurt

I'm a big Amare detractor but even I can admit the team is better with Amare taking on Rasheed Wallace's/Kurt Thomas's minutes.

This past summer, the Knicks offered Stoudemire to nearly every team in the league — “available for free,” as one rival executive put it. But they found no takers because of his diminished production, his health and his contract, which has three years and $65 million remaining (counting this season) and which is uninsured against a career-ending knee injury.

In February, the Knicks wanted to send Stoudemire to Toronto in a deal for Andrea Bargnani, a person briefed on the discussion said. But the proposal was vetoed by James L. Dolan, the Garden chairman, before it ever reached the Raptors (who would not have made the deal anyway, team officials there said).
