To some I guess he is a hero. His jail sentence doesn't have anything to do with that.
Dude went overboard, someone should've stopped him from attacking dude when he was unconcious.. that changed the whole dynamic of the confrontation. That's when it became attempted murder. The media in nyc loves to dikkride cops.. it's over for this cat... see you in 8 years.

And I think it pretty disgusting that people just stand around and film a man get his head caved in. Laughing and joking, I can understand why someone wouldn't want to intervene, all very well saying you'd act like superman over the internet, seeing violence in person is very different. It happens and finishes quicker than you think and you don't have time to think your reaction through. Filming it though, thinking it's funny, it's not funny, two men have had their lives changed for good. In what minutes, and if different decisions had been taken both could have walked away from it.
