You just brought back mad memories. I grew up in Corona. 37Th and 100DR parade is my shyt Haven't been in 2 years cause I work and I can't hang the following Monday
But as a kid growing up in 99% Dominican Corona, Queens (before the influx of Mexican and South-Am immigrants) it was an event. First the parade, then take the 7 to Corona for our own festival (similar to what they do in Washington Heights). Had SWAT teams lined up on top of residential buildings every years. All of Roosevelt, Junction Blvd, 108th St, and 37th Ave barricaded. Riding down the streets and sitting up on the roof of the car through the sun roof with the homemade platano phones screaming "LO CUERO" out the windows. Shutting down all the blocks. Wish we could go back
By inside I meant in the actual parade itself my bad if I confused youBut yes my friends and I every year meet up/travel together pick a spot of the fence and hop over. Just got to move quickly and be wary of all police in the area as they will arrest people. Seen dumbasses get caught every year being reckless
I haven't heard the name I don't think ohhh that I'm aware of the tradition nice. Funny you mentioned York I go there lol I hate it
I just transferred from that piece of trash school go HunterThe year I was supposed to go. The week classes started, they dropped me from all my classes because I didnt have enough to pay for tuition. But they didnt tell me that until then and I had already brought all my books and shyt. I ended up deferring.
No it hasn't. It's probably gotten worse. That's half the fun. Playing Russian Roulette with your life all to buss a wine in the middle of the streeti just caled my bro n asked him about it. he said if i go be careful. he said hes never been and didnt see someone get shot.
this was in the late 90s/early 2000s tho. im sure its changed...
I love Hunter. It was my first choices but York was closer to home. Ugh, I wish I still lived in NYI just transferred from that piece of trash school go Hunter
It's a shame too bcus aside from the inadequate staff I loved the school. Small classes. Great atmosphere. Students events are LIT Don't know if they still are but if you're in the mix, it's a fun school.
I can't participate in any of the Hunter students events tho bcus again, I go full time at night and work in the day. They even have a Caribbean club that has their own school Carnival every year

Outside I guess. If I wouldve stayed at York College, I definitely wouldve been in it but like someone else said you can hop de fence and walk in the parade.
You never heard of J'ouvert? Its how we begin Carnival. We break day. Steel pan play.
It already passed.
Oh shyt man you remember them times? shyt be feeling like a dream sometimes. I can't believe our own little town used to bring out the police so hard. You just brought back mad memories. I grew up in Corona. 37Th and 100
Same. I can walk to York from my house but I was there 3 years and I couldn't do it. They kept fukking up my financial aid, straight up robbed me out of $900 too.I love Hunter. It was my first choices but York was closer to home. Ugh, I wish I still lived in NY
I loved growing up out there. The parades were crazy fun. I ain't even Dominican but I was moreno for a day :sabo: Less people than the dr day parade in the city but just more overall fun and bot having to worry about some wild shyt poppin off.Oh shyt man you remember them times? shyt be feeling like a dream sometimes. I can't believe our own little town used to bring out the police so hard.
No one ever got shot or stabbed either from my knowledge since everyone in Corona knew everyone else so it was always so unnecessary. Just a group of rowdy Dominicans. There was no need for these muhfukkas to be EVERYWHERE in riot gear every single year.
Eventually it died down and you'd just have like 20 or so regular clothed cops walking around in a group and paddy wagons parked in every few blocks.
I'm so sad that wasn't in the age of photography bcus to think back on it, it was just so insanely ridiculous. I
I hate this place so much I just go to class and I leave. I don't step foot on that place otherwise and I'm not a fan of the ave anymore think I'm tooto deal with the youngings wondering all over the placeI just transferred from that piece of trash school go Hunter

I don't rent or buy. That's 2008. We on that Scribd 30 day free pass, download the e-book then cancel wave.Sounds like them smh. Definitely always wait until a professor tells you what you need. I only rent now I don't buy because of bs like that or professors not using them.
I've lost many friends due to transfers. I'm alone nowas far as at York.Same. I can walk to York from my house but I was there 3 years and I couldn't do it. They kept fukking up my financial aid, straight up robbed me out of $900 too.
It's an awful school. The transfer rate is insane.
