Why would the husband set the murder up with his other son still in the house?

The crazier and random it looks, the less likely he thinks the police will look at him as a suspect.

I got a better question for you. Why would a killer who wants to kill your whole family, kill your wife and not go right upstairs and kill your son while he's still on the premises?

I mean if its truly on sight like that, why leave the son alive?
