This seems more plausible to me. If it was just some affair, the guy would have no reason to threaten the family. Husband needed money and decided to body his wife for the insurance payout. Has it done while he's conveniently out of town with his son. Pretty straight forward really.

ya that’s too much of a coincidence…probably an ongoing affair especially with her being bold enough to have him in the house…and she said something that made him flip…possibly wanting to break it off or some shyt…I could see a deranged “lover” threatening the husband/family…and it would be in line with that brutal ass killing
