The younger son did it. This ain’t no Agatha Christie mystery. The mom was cheating and the son wasn’t feeling it.
It is a strong possibility in this situation.
If the husband owed someone money to the point that they would eliminate his family, I don't think he'd leave town with his 17 year old son. If he was afraid, he'd at least take his 13 year old with him.
The way that he behaved gives me the impression that they were not exactly in a state of urgency.
If the husband put a hit on her, I could see the killed sending a message to try and cover the tracks. I couldn't see the killer stabbing her 60 times. It takes too much effort.
The way that she was killed gives me the impression that it was personal. A disgruntled lover or her angry kid.
