I dont see the problem. Id rather this than there be no affordable housing at all, which would have been the result had the developers had to choose one way or another.

But do you buy this reasoning that it would be unfair to the rich to force them to walk next to poor people?

I think it's unfair to expect very high-income homeowners who paid a fortune to live in their building to have to be in the same boat as low-income renters, who are very fortunate to live in a new building in a great neighborhood."

No, not at all. Unfair is the wrong word. I don't think it's unreasonable for the rich folks bankrolling the bulk of the project to make such a request though. Think about it like a plane... would it be so awful if first class and coach had separate entrances? That could just be another of the perks of first class. I think people are making too big a deal over this.

Yeah it would be awful if the airline only added coach seats to get big tax breaks

exactly

I know it's nice to see it from the poor people's perspective and whatnot but living in a building like that and having to see poor people would just ruin it for me.

yeah, and I'd be curious to know exactly how many poor people live in the buildings where these rich white liberals who manufacture all this outrage reside :mjpls:

Let's start forcing poor people to walk with government issued hats on to make sure us making 7 figure salaries can cross to the other side of the street and laugh at them.

Better yet, force poor people to walk in the bike lanes. Can't have those peasants walk OUR streets. Why should I walk the same street some filthy McDonald's worker is walking on? I am better than he is and pay more taxes to keep these streets clean, thus I can make these rules.

Force the poor to ride in between the subway cars and not allowed to hold on to the handrails when coming through to get out. The "middle class" should get some benefits too.

Throw the people who get evicted in the Hudson.

The idea of even seeing non-wealthy people bothers you? Time to grow up, friend.

I'm not wealthy so na, I'm just being 100% honest. I grew up in a lower-middle class household, not the ghetto by any means, but it was definitely the hood....I would be lying if I said I'm not happy to be up outta there.

If I pay for first class somebody from coach shouldn't have the right to occupy my space. Facts.

the only ones making this a class war are the people who are demonizing people who had the nerve to be successful enough to afford to live better.

Think about it like a plane...

Ok, done!
would it be so awful if first class and coach had separate entrances?
depends....what would be the function or purpose of separate entrances?
That could just be another of the perks of first class.
a perk not to spend the few seconds entering the plane just because it has been or will be used by someone in another class? how is that a perk?

pass rules of conduct that fit your standards of behavior, you don't legislate against humans based solely on the basis that they're not rich...but then again we are an immoral and narcissistic society so perhaps you're right. Why should these people who have the nerve to not be born to a hedge fund daddy desire to exist?

You accumulate wealth so you will live well and your future generations will be taken care of. That's what everybody strives for. A hedge fund daddy's obligations are towards his own children, not someone elses.
