For weeks I been reading "one million viewers is dog shyt" or whatever and now I'm seeing juelzing because NBA is doing the same :dwillhuh:
The NBA is doing over a million 2 to 3 times a day, 7 days a weeks along with their regional TV. That's much better than wrestling which struggles to do it a few times. Mostly the issue with the ratings is inside baseball for contract renegotiations. WWE keeps slipping and they're not gonna get the same deals as last time which will hurt their business. The NBA is always gonna have someone pony up for their broadcasting rights.

NBA is going to have to deal with the retirement of Lebron James though, and no one knows how that will damage the league. They lost NBC when they lost MJ

While I agree that Lebron will be a hit to ratings in the short term, players like Zion have proven to be draws as well. And NBC lost the NBA rights because Disney threw the weight of ABC and ESPN at the league and NBC couldn't compete with broadcast and cable at the time. They were getting lower ratings on ABC at the time of the switch though.

eh they will be fine

they have a strong base of support that watch to see basketball being played...and video games are more prevalent than ever so more fans are aware of and interested in more players

the ratings will dip short-term but recover pretty quickly

Zion team is really far away from playing into June every year. Obviously the injuries too. That’s the luxury they had with Lebron, he played into June for basically a decade straight, and Lebron never got hurt. That’s extremely hard to ever get again. If Golden State recovers back to where they were, then that would be an effective bridge to the next mega superstar.

on top of New Orleans being a long way away from being in the playoffs and especially contending, Zion simply has to get his weight under control, or else he risk being like late year career Shawn Kemp. It’s obvious LeBron is slowing down right now, but this is still year 17 and he’s barely missed time in his career. Zion is on minute restriction in just his first year.

So were the Cavs in 04-05. Giannis, Curry, KD, Kawhi and Luka can hold it down until Zion's ready to flourish.

The last week has been a hilarious exercise in stupidity when it came to ratings talk because of that & Meltzer's general bullshyt talk.
