As we get closer to the debut of AEW on TNT in October, talks continue to progress about NXT potentially moving to cable in a two-hour time slot On Wednesday nights in order to counter-program the new opposition.
The majority of these talks centered around the idea of the black and gold brand moving to FS1 as part of WWE’s new partnership with FOX. However, a new report from
PWInsider suggests that WWE has not only pitched an NXT deal to their new television partner, but has also discussed a potential move for the black and gold brand with their familiar cable partner of many years, Universal.
The report suggests that within the last 48 hours, discussions about a pitch for it NXT to move over to USA have come to light. Reportedly, the pitch is for NXT to go live every week from their usual venue of Full Sail Live with a two-hour show, instead of the typical one hour show that NXT is producing now.
USA did air one episode of NXT during the holiday season of 2017. The episode, aired on December 13, 2017, was branded as being a part of
WWE Week, something that has become a tradition during the holiday season on the USA Network.
Should this move be made official, this would further the parallels between the Monday Night War of the 1990s and the budding rivalry between NXT and All Elite Wrestling.
