Imagine being one of the thousands of indie stars knowing that all your effort was wasted because the world's number 1 "wrestling" company has decided that being able to wrestle is no longer a priority but having 100k followers on Instagram does the job
That’s why AEDub NEEDS to succeed. fukk the E and it’s lock on the business. These wrestlers need another big name company to join so they can shine.

Well clearly, the lock is no longer the case. The next batch of indy superstars might have time to develop further from now on and eventually sign with AEW based on WWE's new approach of recruitment at least. No wrestlers basically

They can’t even build new stars. If there roster is gonna consist of ex-sports players in the future they better develop them properly or people might tune out.

Bianca is the only talent that comes to mind who actually excelled from sports athlete to wrestler. Who else has?

On the current WWE roster:

Roman Reigns
Chad Gable
Lashley
Kushida
Big E
Dolph Ziggler
Mace
Shelton Benjamin
Ridge Holland
Brock Lesnar

All pretty successful in their real athletic fields before becoming pro wrestlers (and sometimes after in the case of Lashley and Brock). But it's definitely not the 70s where all the stars from the South were either college or NFL players, and the Mid West guys were all high level amateur wrestlers.

I wouldn’t include amateur wrestlers since they have experience closer to pro. Obviously not the same, but they have more of an advantage than an ex-NFL player.
