What is your problem man? People don't have to like everything you do. Don't come into this thread if you don't like things. :camby:

Nope

biggest newspaper in Germany has the story now

WWE-Fans aufgebracht: Wirbel um Nazi-Namen für Walter

:hubie:
That is where WWE fukked up. Once it got out that they were planning on giving Walter the same name as some Nazi commander they should've pivoted and dumped all allusions to Gunther, Stark or Gunther Stark.
They could've just had him announce he wanted to be known by his full name to "honor his family as he will soon dominate NXT and WWE" and then just give him a German surname like Schmidt or something.
So he'd be Walter Schmidt.
No harm no foul and no PR issues to deal with.

It's hard to pick a German name that some Nazi didn't have. Just give it up man. It is what it is.

There millions of people with the last name Schmidt.
Unless there is a Nazi commander who was named "Walter Schmidt" there is nothing wrong with using that last name.
The problem with what WWE did is that they trademarked a Nazi commander's name and instead of pivoting they decided to double down.
It was stupid and caused unnecessary bad press when they had other options.

You said they should get rid of it if he's just Gunther, which as far as we know, that's what he's being called because that's what he said after the match. He didn't say Stark. So how is him being just Gunther any different than having Schmidt if they are both common names? Just because it was trademarked doesn't mean they will use the entire name. They trademarked "Rex Steiner" and haven't used that once.

Read my post up the page a bit with the meanings of Gunther and Walter as German names. They are very similar and he likely did choose it, just like Bron Breakker.
It's still a stupid move no matter how you slice it.

Stupid would be giving the trademark to your established independent ring name to the corporate company.

Plenty could see Tupac as a stupid name but it means "warrior or leader."
Walter, their longest reigning UK champion who already made his main roster debut at Survivor Series. shyt, he's STILL WALTER on WWE's site breh :russ:

And? They usually wait until they confirm the entire change on TV or on social media. You expected it to change over night? :dahell:

Go look at NXT title reigns and they put "Bearcat" in Keith Lee's name. :mjlol:

I’m mean they could just change the Name to WALTER GUNTHER in all caps and call it a day than have the best of both… people still could call him Walter and they have their own IP:yeshrug:
