My primary focus is losing weight, so I'm just cutting calories down and avoiding traps for now. I made the mistake of trying to complicate things after losing a lot of weight before, so right now I'm keeping it simple (calories in vs. calories out).

Day 2

Positives:
No fast-food, no candy/soda
Didn't exceed daily calories

Negatives:
Can't think of any.
If you're trying to lose weight IMO it's more efficient to clean up your diet. As you start to eat better the quality foods will allow you to eat more food feel fuller and easily stay below what you need to for calories to lose. If you only count calories and just stick to a number you may end up eating calorie dense foods that are inefficient for your budget of total calories.

I can't even bring myself to walk in a pizza place anymore. I went from eating a pizza a week to feeling like it's such a bad food that I'd be better off eating something else.

This is what I tell people who are just starting to fix their diet.

Changing everything at once can be too difficult mentally. I tell people to start by cutting out 1 or 2 "bad" things every week, or month, or whatever works.

For me, working/eating lunch every day at a sandwich shop, it was cutting mayo from all sandwiches and one slice of cheese instead of two :heh: But just that change was like 300 fewer calories a day.

Now I track almost everything I eat, or I know enough about my staples that I can estimate. It's become second nature, but I definitely would've failed if I changed everything at once.
I would figure instead of just cutting bad things you're better off substituting in things that are good that you like. For example I love broccoli. I used to eat a lot of french fries with my sandwiches and burgers so I dropped the fries in exchange for broccoli. I went from 300+ calories on the fries to a whole bowl of broccoli that's no more than 40 calories.

Next since I couldn't give up bread I subbed my normal white type for Ezekiel bread which has no added sugar, very low sodium, and is low in calories. I subbed in Special K crisp for Pop Tarts unless I need the extra calories. I dropped all my typical snack foods in exchange for grapes, watermelon, and pineapple so I only snack of fruit now. I like soup so I got a thermos and I take homemade soup I make in the Vitamix to work with me every day for lunch. Mostly Broccoli cheese or Tomato soups I blend myself.

Another way is to take a fiber supplement or ear foods higher in fiber.

I'm starting to think about this as well.

Last night I couldn't get to sleep and ended up on a Taco Bell/McDonalds run. :snoop:

Again, literally fighting 15 years of self-conditioning but this is no excuse. This the hardest thing I've ever done and I believe beating this will set me up to be able to accomplish anything.

shyt.

More than likely your general "taste" will change. Fast Food just doesn't even appeal to me at this point. I don't mean I'm too good for it just that certain foods don't hit that spot.

It shouldn't be.

Fast food is pretty much poison in my eyes. I don't even really face the temptation to eat it anymore. It's all caloric dense and loaded with sodium its designed to be addictive and ultimately unfulfilling.

I do miss pizza sometimes but I can't bring myself to eat it either. When I started losing weight last month that first week I was still eating it I literally had to fast all day and spend a couple hours in the gym just to be able to eat 4-5 slices of pizza and that was most of what I had the whole day. Later in the day I'd be sitting around hungry and be like nope I can't eat cause I had that pizza and can't afford the calories so I'd either go to bed early or go back to the gym and try to burn 500ish more calories so I could eat again.

The real kicker was entering that stuff in MyFitnessPal and seeing me taking in 5000+ mgs of sodium in a single day. That was the end of it.

I quit fast food pretty quickly virtually overnight. I'd rather prepare my own meals.

Depends. I eat out all the time just normally no the McDonald's, Wendy's etc.

I will still hit pizza every so often. I don't like feeling like I can't have something as long as I'm smart about it.

I'm basically killing myself in the gym everyday and losing all of my gains due to nutrition. Time to get on top of this, thanks for the support brehs.

:salute:

Yup, unfortunately that's exactly what a lot of us do including me :francis:

But this thread with the encouragement from the brehs to keep going should help us all
