The public deserves a discussion on what things? I strongly disagree with this notion. There should be civilian oversight on the FISA process, but what other aspects of data collection and interception should the public get to decide on?
This is not how law enforcement and proactive investigations work dear friend. Nor should it be.
Old boss meet the new boss; right wing meet the left wing. When two choices are more or less the same thing, the silver lining is people are forced to come to grips with the reality of false choice. Both wings of your parties are false choices. Being absolutely hypnotized at this point is no longer a matter of innocent ignorance but willful ignorance. Your rights do not exist or are a mere formality to people with the mindset, that with a few strokes of a pen, your sovereignty gets trumped. You are free simply because you are free, not because the government says you are free. But in this society, your rights are easily trampled upon because you are seen as not being sovereign but needing the Constitution to justify you having any rights. Scary.
Some of the shyt on twitter about Snowden have me like

Can you answer me on this: in what way do I have to challenge or sue the American Government data mining my information? How can I take issue with being lumped in needlessly with criminals?
Since the details of the operation are classified, and the identities of targets are classified, in what way do I have legal recourse to challenge under my 4th Amendment Rights?
