when you realize that this country is already down the tubes and has been on a moral/political decline since at least the 70's, none of this should be a surprise. if u tin hat folks are scared now, wait until you see whats in store over the next 10 years...and go ahead and try to fight. you'll see what happens. americans' so called 'rights' was signed over when they sold us out to pay foreign debts. they just unveiling itself little by little instead of all at once.

theres no going back. deal with it.

Former CIA Director David Petraeus is in attendance at the 2013 Bilderberg Group conference to help construct the “big data” spy grid, which is set to become the new frontier of clandestine statecraft as Internet connectivity becomes ubiquitous.

Petraeus has previously hailed the “Internet of things” as a transformational boon for “clandestine tradecraft”. In other words, it will soon be easier than ever before to keep tabs on the population since everything they use will be connected to the web, with total disregard for privacy considerations. The spooks won’t have to plant a bug in your home or your vehicle, you will be doing it for them.

It’s ironic that Petraeus is helping bolster the very same surveillance system that brought him down last year when details emerged of his extra-marital affair.

doesnt sound like 'conspiraceh nuttery' now does it?

Nobody said the NSA snooping on our lives was conspiracy nuttery. I myself have talked about how the national security apparatus employs more people than most large metropolitan cities and privacy is pretty much a thing of the past for years and so have many others.

What's conspiracy nuttery is this all that extra nonsense y'all throw in. Let's not use strawmen.

so its between glenn greenwald and jeremy scahill for realest journalist? making all these other dudes look like clowns.

Matt Taibbi and Naomi Wolf are up there as well.

Taibbi goes right for the source. He's like Freeman from the Wire, he doesn't really care about the criminals at the bottom and the mid levels, he wants to follow the money trail to the bosses.

Michael Hastings too. And Chris Hedges. People like them are the only people keeping real journalism alive.

Obama in 2006 against NSA spying :snoop:

"I have no doubt that General Hayden will be confirmed. But I am going to reluctantly vote against him to send a signal to this administration that even in these circumstances, even in these trying times, President Bush is not above the law. No President is above the law. I am voting against Mr. Hayden in the hope that he will be more humble before the great weight of responsibility that he has not only to protect our lives but to protect our democracy.

Americans fought a Revolution in part over the right to be free from unreasonable searches–to ensure that our Government could not come knocking in the middle of the night for no reason. We need to find a way forward to make sure we can stop terrorists while protecting the privacy and liberty of innocent Americans. We have to find a way to give the President the power he needs to protect us, while making sure he does not abuse that power. It is possible to do that. We have done it before. We could do it again."

You work for the government?

You're constantly defending this and backing away when presented with legal and ethical arguments why this is and should be classified as unlawful and unconstitutional behavior.

I don't back away I just get fukkin lazy when responding.

But this whole "phone records controversy" is a non-issue. They weren't recording phone conversations or even the names and addresses of the phone numbers. They were just metadata information so that they can track phone numbers into machines to see whether terrorists or people suspected of terrorism were contacting each other. Total non-issue and faux outrage.

But do I support it? Not necessarily. I don't have an issue with it but if it was to be repealed by congress, senate, and the white house I wouldn't mind that either.

lol this guy....I'm sorry this issue impacts your life so greatly that you have to insult me because of my indifference towards it but unfortunately unlike you I'm considered one of those normal people.
