Now that the hype is completely gone, can we admit Kendrick Lamar doesn't have a classic verse

::Listens to a handful of young current rappers: hears Keef influence all over.. Heard no Kendrick influence::

:bryan:

Y'all shytting on me for that Keef comment are in denial so much. You're out of tune with the young gen and clearly hip hop as a whole. Sounding like a bunch of ignorant white people in the 00s who were shytting on Wayne cause he wasn't and his music was "respectable" enough in their eyes, while propping up back pack rappers

:bryan:

Claim I'm sounding like a complex cac with my opinions while actually sounding exactly like the cac back pack rap fans from the 00s

The irony & cognitive dissonance :mjlol:

You're just :flabbynsick:

"Classic" is determined by imoact & influence .. Keef has both that. You're just out of touch as fukk.

definitely out of touch like finally rich wasnt one of my top albums in 2012... :mjlol:

chief keef has ZERO CLASSIC songs or projects based on impact & influence... dude isnt even a top 3 drill artist (herb, durk, pappy rip)

at the end of the day... none of that drill shyt that came out of chicago is classic but herb def has potential to make a career outside of it

There's no standout bars, huh? Again, I get the impression you're arguing standout bars have to be shyt talking. Common has more standout bars on Respiration than most of his "I can shyt talk" tracks, even the great ones. I'd compare Sing About Me to Common's verse on that song in terms of having very evocative stand out lyricism.

I'd argue he has a variety of great bars. I'm still blown away at this from Complexion

Dark as the midnight hour, I'm bright as the mornin' sun
Brown skinned, but your blue eyes tell me your mama can't run

Who raps like that today anymore? That's some Jeru The Damaja type crass shyt that makes you go "oh fukk."

At the end of the day dude is a dope rapper and artist, and I find it puzzling as fukk that people strain themselves to find a way to shyt on him. It's either he's the creation of bought critics/media, the "white man" is propping him up, he's overrated and has no interesting music/bars/verses/flows/whatever, etc. Jesus. Is GKMC dope or not? If you wanna say it's not dope that's your opinion, but I'm not gonna hold it in high regard lol. If you don't like TPAB fine, whatever; I "get" why a lot of younger people dislike it. But I'd love to hear whether those people like Wesley's Theory, Alright, TBTB, How Much A Dollar Cost, and the other more contemporary or accessible sounding tracks.
People keep moving the goalposts with him instead of just admitting he's not the rapper they want him to be. You can count on one hand how many lyrical shyt talking tracks he has in a catalogue but that's how they're trying to judge him by to compare him to other rappers :mindblown:

Right ye because I was the one that took it there right? I'm the one that thinks I have the leg up on people because of the music that I listen to? All I did was point the mirror back at you and you seemed to take some sort of personal offence to it, which is hilarious by the way.

Rapping lyrically over jazz beats in an era saturated with artists all sounding/looking the same is pushing the music forward. Not to mention he's doing it flawlessly and receiving critical acclaim from his peers and the majority of the public but you keep thinking YOUR opinion holds the most merit breh. I don't wanna knock you off your perch

:shaq2:
I don't respect you.

Heres why.

1. You keep bringing up acclaim. You herb, I don't need acclaim for shyt. I know what I like. I know why I like it. I know why I defend it. I don't give a flying fukk what his peers say. I don't care what wayward aimless smart-dumb jackasses think. I don't care what wannabe pseudo intellectuals think. I don't care what fake-deep posers think.

2. Kendrick played it safe on his second album. Sonically. Period. Theres nothing you haven't heard for the last 30 years in TPAB. Deal with it.

3. You keep talking about "my opinion" as if that fukking negates the same bullshyt you're doing.

4. You keep pulling out this trope that unless I rate kendrick as the best ever, then I'm someone who has a 3rd grade reading level. Little homie, I have more knowledge about how the world works, in greater detail, with more profound understanding of history and technical subjects than Kendrick ever will understand, than most rappers will ever understand, and subsequently more than most rappers will ever be able to make good music about. So I don't want to hear about how good kendrick is, when he's not impressing me at the end of the day.

What streets? Certainly not LA. I was there. He blew up on blogs. Don't confuse the two.
Nah, he was on a few features right after Jay Rock started getting national airplay. The Game was carrying him for a minute, let's not change history, if you were really in LA at the time you knew who "K-Dot" was. I was there the summer of 10 right before my freshmen year, had a block party on N Wilmington, and someone was blasting some of his shyt out of their car.

Not necessarily. A track like "D'evils" ain't really shyt talking.

YES, THIS is what I'm talking about.

That bar is genius to me. These are the lines that are few and far between with Kendrick

Kendrick blew up on the streets before he was cosigned by backpackers, almost everyone forgets that.
nikkas on this board have this weird thing where they get wet anytime the "streets" are saying anything about an artist.
But Compton was bumping Kendrick back in 08
Again. This is wrong. Kendrick had been signed when Section 80 came out.

The statement in bold negates everything else you just typed. I'm out.

Sidenote: How do you guys remember these Future verses? I'm being serious I don't understand what he says. I defo try and mumble shyt when I'm in clubs drunk but :yeshrug:
Further highlighting how lame you are.

Ole "he seems beneath me so he's dumb and I'm better than him" bytchmade boy :mjlol: :umad:

At the end of the day, theres more raw truth, emotion, honesty, and sincerity in The Migos, Gucci, Future, and countless other artists than Kendrick will ever have with his hifalutin "project-window" raps.

So stop it. You're just reinforcing the notion that this nikka aint that nice at the end of the day.

I can look at a dude like Big Sean, rapping about his life, being fly, and still dropping more educated gems than Kendrick but getting disregarded because he's not doing it on ATCQ production and doesn't have all of the industry pretending to be wow'd at the fact he's remotely "pro-black" (which is a marketing gimmick at the end of the day)
