That low/mid low shyt is partly why I say Timbaland will slay Pharrell in a battle.

they were culture vulture'n cacs and a black cac
This fukking guy always with the terrible trollingI totally disagree, and the Kanye mention is odd because Kanye is less "Black" and more pop than the Neptunes, but I definitely think Timbo > Neptunes. They are more pop than Timbo. Timbaland has more grit and hip hop experimentation to his music.
Them mediocre nikkas dont deserve an excuse. They simply were never that good.I know what you are trying to say and I'll explain it to you. They lack low-end in their beats.
Most black music rely on low or mid-low frequencies and it carries over to the next generation. It give OUR music that feel.
You can tell the Neptunes have a lot of non-black musical influences because they focus more on the high end and strip down the lows.
Melody-wise, they are probably the best in the genre. Groove-wise not so much.
I first noticed this when Ludacris dropped Southern Hospitality. The song is good but the drums were always off to me. They didn't slam like a regular hip-hop song. It's like they mix their music down for radio or for CD.
Another example here is Fabolous - Young'n. Their lows are weak and very mechanical.
Just for reference Listen to Missy Sock it to me. The kicks are fuller and the mid range bass is more organic.
I think the clipse would have been bigger if they had production focusing more on the lows.
