Pizza in italy is trash actually.

You're supposed to eat seafood or pasta if you go to italy. Pizza was an italian american invention. Pizza is more Tony Soprano, than Giannini Versaci.
Saying Italy is the best place to get Pizza is like saying Kenya is the best to get Cornbread and Collard Greens.

Wikipedia disagrees with you.

Modern pizza evolved from similar flatbread dishes in Naples in the 18th or early 19th century.[21] Prior to that time, flatbread was often topped with ingredients such as garlic, salt, lard, cheese, and basil. It is uncertain when tomatoes were first added and there are many conflicting claims.[21] Until about 1830, pizza was sold from open-air stands and out of pizza bakeries, and pizzerias keep this old tradition alive today.

But of course Americans can't cook for shyt and just try and claim everything from Europe. :francis:

Raised in jersey. Lived in brooklyn. Went to school in Long Island. Now I am back in Jersey.

It’s safe to say I know good pizza.

I went to Romania and Rome and tried pizza out there. It was nothing but :trash:

Romania? Dafuq has Romania got to do with anything? Do you think Romania is part of Italy because it has Roma in the name?!?! :russ:

FACTS!!!

New Haven is literally known for its pizza.

In addition, pretty much any non-chain pizza spot in Fairfield County or New Haven County is gonna have some piff ass pizza. I've noticed that it has gotten harder to get pizza by the slice (at least in Fairfield County), but you can still get a great pie anywhere in Southern Connecticut.

Famous Pizza in Norwalk is a hidden gem, but they kind of fell off lately.

I tried a few spots in NYC when I went this winter and they weren't good. Well one was that somebody suggested, but it was square cut :why: As a tourist its kinda hard to find WHERE the good pizza would be. Its not like you can pull up whereever and it's gon be fire. At least not in my few days of sampling :mjcry:

I lived on S. Main before the police station moved from Lockwood... That's the era when it was poppin off.

They had a pizza spot by Vets park in the 00s that is replaced by a Mexican joint. :ohlawd: grinders.

Neutral observations (coming from Texas):

NJ/NYC make great pizza but you can go to damn near any decent sized city and find AT LEAST one spot that is comparable. Might be a notch below but it's still good.

Chicago deep dish...hard to find the same quality outside of Chicago. The best deep dish >>>>> the best NJ/NY-style pizza but there's probably 10 to 20 good NYC joints for every good Chicago style joint.

My test is simple. Hamburger, pepperoni and jalapeno. If they do that combo well, I'm straight.

Chicago is known for its deep dish but when we do thin crust, we do it well.
