Or maybe dudes just don't like his brand of abstract rap. Make sense? Did you ever hear dudes talk about having to research AZ's or Pac's or Method Man's lyrics. Dude made a good point. I don't know what all that Young Thug and Drake sh!t you're talking about.

What's abstract about his raps? Its just elite lyricism. So nikkas who can put together words, form similes, and use metaphors are "abstract" now. :dahell:

And no, but Pac AZ and MM all thrived in a generation where lyricism was the norm. I can argue that 90s rap fans are legitimately smarter (music wise) than the nikkas of today
It's the same thing I hear with Cole. Cole is boring :troll:

I mean, is he boring because the nikka doesn't say "nikka" every other sentence most of the time? Is he boring because his shyt has to actually be digested? fukk that shyt. nikkas not boring. He's just tryna keep it true in EASILY the worst generation of rap we've ever seen. EASILY.

I'm SERIOUSLY convinced you have a bunch of J Cole pics nailed around all your room and a secret Cole shrine behind your clothes in your closet. They way you're constantly either making Cole threads or making 100+ posts in other Cole threads while supposedly hating Cole makes me think you have a serious obsession with dude. This is on some Helga from Hey Arnold levels.

That has zero relevancy to what the other poster was saying. He said that Lupe's pretentious raps aren't palatable to every rap fan. And I agree. This isn't my generation and I grew up during arguably raps greatest era in regards to creativity and lyricism, and I don't find Lupe's raps entertaining. Just cause you don't fvck with his sh!t don't mean you like dumbed down rap.

I'll never understand why y'all be trying to make y'all opinion the be all of end all. Both albums are good, but albums are totally different, but I'll bite.

Obviously most people aren't bumping cole right now, because something New just dropped. We gonna hop on the newest thing for awhile and get tired of that before we go back to the old stuff. Me personally I like both albums both have reply value, but I might lean towards cole, because I get tired of pulling out a dictionary to understand half a bar:manny:

I'm not mad, its just a trend in rap that's happening. Everything has to be simple like a SFTB, 0 To 100, Lifestyle, or some DJ Mustard produced track, and if its not then its "too complicated". If you're a fan of rap and can't pick up SOME double entendre's on the first listen then you might be the problem. Same nikkas who don't even listen to lyrics anymore, can't even understand what Young Thug is saying, but "The Beat Is Hot :ahh:". If you can't nod your head to it than its not hot because you actually have to listen to the lyrics.

Actually, the state of rap is the problem. The lyrics are getting stupider (yes I said STUPIDER :skip:) and stupider, and the consumers are getting stupider and stupider, to the point that anything that isn't instantly digested, or anything that you have to actually think about to understand is labeled "boring" "too complicated" "need rap genius to figure it out" "conscious" "too deep"

Bullshyt. It's that the bar is getting set lower and lower and you nikkas are getting dumber and dumber.

Now you either just trollin me , or you're not even reading what i'm typing. Nowhere did I type that lyrics need to be dumb down? You sound like you have a personal agenda. Ill be the first one to kick all that hot garbage off the radio .

Theres an element of rap that you're clearly looking past. Even back in the " Golden Era" of rap/hip-hop , you had your grimey shyt , and your ignorant shyt. Theres lanes in the game , you get in where you fit in. Never has it been a one way street. No one is forcing you to listen to the bullshyt thats on the radio . If you dont like it as much as you claim , but yet continue to comment on it , then maybe i should question your sanity? nikkas that like that shyt , will continue to like it.

I'll leave it at this. If you want deep lyrics with a much deeper meaning then what you hear off the first listen, then you listen to lupe. If you want dope ass lyrics that you could play for somebody who listens to rap casually , and still have them appreciate the art form , then you put something similar to cole. ( Or anyone in Coles lane ,for that matter. ).

I do agree with Young thug and all that other shyt though.
Cole isn't that good of a lyricist though. "Dope ass lyrics" is broad, but when I think of "Dope ass lyrics"... I don't think of J. Cole.

I think of passionate lyrics, or storytelling. But as far as witty, clever lyrics? Nah, not so much
