That's not going to fly because of the handful or more of US bases in SK. They'll start plastering stories of how the US not only will allow South Koreans to be in harms way but their own as well. The backlash will cause this administration to do an about face.

north korea is defending it sovereignty from foreign invaders

When they talk about missile strikes are south korea and japan, they are talking about hitting US military bases not civilians

the US plan on bombing civilian targets just like they did against a japan in WW2 when the japanese never attacked american civilians

If you had misiles armed at your country of course you would want nuclear weapons
