They were screwed no matter what breh and either route they took a lot of people were going to die with China, Russia and The U.S basically cornering them with Germany defeated an no longer a threat.

All the focus was then on removing Japan from China and attacking Japan, which was already underway by the time the bombs dropped. They were losing more and more rapidly by the time the first one landed. It was only a matter of time.

If they surrendered after two bombs, they weren't willing to go the distance because they didn't go the distance. They basically loved to punch downward and couldn't take it back once the war turned directions.
