No race has allies. White folks do not ally with Asians nor Arabs. They see them as competitors. In Bay Ridge there is a large Arab population and they always clash and tension in that hood between them both.

Black folks need to just ally with themselves. That means reaching out politically and economically. I have no problems with Ricans cuz I grew up with them but there is no such thing as a kumbuya world. The world is cut throat and only the strong survive. Ricans are our competitors. I only seen Italian and Puerto Rican mixs in racist ass Staten Island. Those mixes are rare in Brooklyn. There is a few in Queens. Italians and Puerto Ricans do not fukk with each other for the most part. I grew up with them and the ones who have assimilated which is the majority hate white folks. Ricans have been living in NYC for decades since the 1940s. Italians hate anybody who is non white. And they see Ricans as just as wild mulattos.

Alot of people in this thread do not live in the tri-state area anyway. There is alot of assumptions. I grew up with Ricans. I went to school with them and they always hung out with their own but they related more with blacks then white folks. Anybody who went to middle school and high school hell even college in NYC has seen this.

Fact is there ain't no beef between Blacks and Puerto Rican like there is between Blacks and Mexicans on the west coast. The relationship between Blacks and Puerto Ricans is like that of Russia and China, some fighting and some friendship but mostly neutral.

I was born and raised in the projects with ricans,grew up fighting ricans,dating them,kicking it with them and befriending them.
Sure, there's some who are racist, i've met plenty of them irl but i rather focus on the ones who treat me good rather than grouping them all together because i know they're not all like that .

Acknowledging somebody's skin color, history and culture does not lead to racism. It is also just as offensive to dismiss people's race. I want the world to see me as a black man. The key to ending racism is acknowledging people's race and respecting each other differences. That colorblind ignoring people's backgrounds mentality is just as wrong.

La Raza isn't even a Puerto Rican term. They aren't on that taking over America nonsense. Puerto Ricans especially NuyoRicans are possibly the most Americanized Hispanic group. They aren't "naive" to racism due to living in the America for such a long time.
