Actually really enjoyed this. Some of the most intense scenes of the year.
Also the most bizarre opening credits scene maybe of all-time.

Music was beautiful of course and it was great to see Gylleengawd again after I skipped all 3 movies he did last year. Michael Shannon was great too and Aaron Taylor Johnson was awesome as the villain.

November 2016. Amy Adams month continues, y'all die. (I liked her more in this than Arrival)

I liked it but didn't love it. The overlapping story is kinda shallow while the more engrossing story never got me as engaged in it as I feel it should have, possibly because it's (too) quickly established as a piece of fiction within a piece of fiction. I liked how it worked as a metaphor and how that played into the end, but overall I just missed too much of a proper connection between the two. Ford seemed to have the most fun with peeking at the lives of the entitled elite in those thinly spread moments and almost made me wish he would make a movie just about that.

If you go see it, make sure you miss the opening credits. Not even kidding. When the previews end, walk out of the theater for five minutes, then go back in.

Seriously saw it yesterday but walked in a few minutes late. Enjoyed it immensely. Completely missed the credits. What happened?

Probably. I felt it had enough touches to make an interesting David Lynch type mindfukk movie but the stories just didn't gel together well enough for that.
