In my opinion The Warriors drafted James Wiseman instead of Lamelo Ball because James Wiseman is docile and they don’t like when guys have a confidence to them even though confidence is the reason why guys make it to the league and beyond. One of the best examples is the Jordan Bell situation he was a second round pick that the Warriors payed the Bulls 3.5 million dollars to have. So yes drafting James Wiseman was respectability politics because they have a history of drafting players “that keep their head down” because they are so “well spoken” off the court when the only thing that matters is on the court. These things come from the the top and to the media especially considering how they like to knock down players on the team in ways that are dog whistling. To the point that the last KD season they could’ve nipped the shyt in the bud by defending him to the media. You would’ve thought KD was a criminal the way the local media was talking to and about the man.
