that's not domination though. "Me Against Teh World" was his first album to actually sell well. "All Eyez On Me" did sell well either considering it was a double disc and thus he only sold half of whatever the cert is. That's not domination. 2Pac sold more in death than in life.

Little known fact, Tupac was also the top selling rap artist before his death too :pacspit:

2Pac didn't dominate the industry though. 2Pac has turned into a mythical figure in recent years.

This.

Pac had a helluva impact, but "domination"? He definitely did his thing in '96. But before then?

He def. wasn't dominating it in '91-'92 with his first album. He was popular in '93, but def. not dominating. He spent most of '94 in court and doing movies. Most of '95 in jail. So any dominating he did lasted about 7 months of '96.

Right. Pac's time at the top was brief. Not that he didnt have some hot records, but a large part of his fame came from the whole east/west bad boy beef crap.

Let's not forget when discussing album sales numbers in the days when PAC was alive and dominating:

CDs were a new thing
MP3s did not exist
If you wanted to hear uncensored music, you had to buy an album
There weren't 90000000 rappers out
PAC was one of the 1st rappers to crossover thru his acting
Death Row took over rap and PAc joined them
All sides exploited the East/West beef
White people were first getting heavily involved in "being down"

It was the perfect storm for someone with the charisma, smarts, and skills 2Pac had to flourish:smugdraper:

off the strength of i get around and keep ya head up.

and he had a gold album on his first album and he had a gold album on thug life album

This is like saying GRODT sold cuz of In Da Club. You'd have to completely ignore the media's role in hyping up 50 getting shot '9' times to the casual record buyer.

MATW sold off the strength of those singles AND the controversy from the Quad Studios shooting/ rape case.
