The nikka outsold Big,Nas and Jay when he was alive just based on AEOM alone. MATW outsold Ready to Die. You nikkas have revisionist history.

but biggie had sold up to what pac had sold during his whole career when he dropped ready to die...or at least was close

Reading through some of these posts, people make it seem like the hologram at Coachella is the height of Pac's fame.

2Pac was the template for what we saw DMX, Ja Rule, and 50 Cent did. If T.I. is referring to the Entertainment industry, then he has a valid point. Pac was doing movies, had numerous hit records, platinum and multi-platinum albums. The government wanted to ban Strictly 4 My N.I.G.G.A.Z.. C. Delores Tucker was going at him. Pac was treated like a menace before being "controversial" was the norm.

no one cared bout record sales during dat time
never reeally heard record sale arguments until 50 cent came around
but big and pac were running shyt
alot of it had to do with their talent
but most had to do with da east vs west beef
id say pac was @1 during dat time period, especially since he drooped 2 albums in 1996 and biggie didnt drop his shyt till 1997
but to say he dominated da industry is a big stretch
pac's run was like 7 months
sayin he ran da industry for in 94 or 95 is just plain stanning
but homie was definitely on da right track for a hell of a run
but den he got lid up

They see me trolling, they hating.....
I never knew 2pac dislikers' existed until I started going on forums

I always thought aside from a few racist cacs AND uncle toms that everyone and they momma saw pacs greatness

all these idiots saying pac is only great because of his death is retarded

there is alot of dead rappers and not all of them get hailed the goat... so that argument is bullshyt.

and if you under 26-28 range, you couldnt possibly know how big pac was back then. you were what 9-11 years old in 1995?

FUKK OUTTA HERE

^^ I love Pac and own all his albums

just cause we saying real shyt don't mean we dislike the man

the man was a genius when he wanted to be

but homie didn't dominate shyt and died broke, Suge was fukking that nikka out of his cashflow with no vaseline

I think you're missing the point, cats (or at least I am) are saying that he got huge in 96 and died a few months later and became bigger than he ever was, all over the world. And I'm also saying that his sales and buzz was not what made him great cause then we can pull out a couple other artists who had teh same buzz for a couple months. I'm also saying that all his controversy, constant beefs, getting filled with metals, shooting people, allegedly raping people and the way he spoke like fukking Malcolm X junior or something played a big role in his dominance. Cause in 95 Dogg Pound moved even more units than Pac did in 95, but won't get 1/10th of the respect for the buzz they had now in retrospect.

Big had a better run from fall 94 to summer 96 than pac ever had

Big came in the game hyped and moving units. He didn't have to shoot cops, get arrested and beat up directors and go to jail to sell records or get noticed.

I think he got it from Pac, cause Pac used thtr argument a lot to say that he was better/bigger than Big or better yet he got it from Ja who got it from Jay who got it from LL who got it from Pac. Almost every rapper who sold more than his opponent has used that argument, but Pac is the first rapper I heard. I don't recall Dr. Dre and Snoop using it towards Eazy.

From 94-96 Pac was the biggest rap artist on the planet. We all know this. So if being the biggest isn't being dominant then who was the most dominant when Pac was alive? In 1996 who was bigger than Pac was?

94 now :leon:
Warren G and Biggie were a lot bigger in 94, snoop as well.
Even dukes like Beastie Boys were bigger in 94.

He was big in 95 he sold 1.5 milli, but Snoop was still bigger at that time and Bone Thugs were a lot bigger.

96 was his year, no one is denying that.
He only lived for 3 quarters of 96 though.

I would say that no one has dominated a single year as Pac dominated 1996, closest competition being IWW and The Score from a "dominance standpoint" but these artists didn't have all the incredible gossip and controversy Pac had. Close would be 50 in 03 (even though he had tough competition with Jays black album and Outkasts SB/TLB) or Eminem in 2000 or 2002. I'm not gonna talk about this dominance shyt anymore when it comes to Pac though, I'm not one of those stans that include dominance, controversy, sales and whatever while judging rappers. Musical dominance is what I can discuss. And Pac is top 3 in that respect, somedays #1.

How many times do you think that statement can be said before it's not original no more? :pachaha:

And that's why they say no one has dominated like Tupac. The closest is somewhere between 50 (GRODT) and maaaayyyybe Kanye (George Bush, SNL, Taylor)

What everyone fails to realize is that
Liking/Not liking someone's music does not equal dominance

Not liking Che Guevera doesn't take away from his impact and dominance. Not liking Andy Warhol doesn't take away from his impact and dominance. Not liking Harry Potter books doesn't take away from their impact and dominance.

Biggie & Pac were really the last ones to elevate the music game and since Biggie is supposedly a hybrid of Pac influence and Puffy managing, I can understand why people would say Pac over Big even if people view him as less lyrical. His impact on the game (including his influence on BIG elevated the game to a level that hasn't changed much in years.)

The last closest thing to elevating the game would be Kanye. Everyone else followed that formula including Jay (following Big) and 50 (following 50).

Kanye elevated it to the second coming of the ATCQ, De La Soul etc and as a result, you have a new class of soft rappers just like after they came out.

edit: Realize everything I'm saying is my own opinion so don't come at me as if I think everything I'm saying is fact.
