I know. That's why i used the / when i bunched them together. The point I am making is that you no longer need either of them to use the Quest/Meta headset.

So how do you buy or install games then? I don't think you can even use SideQuest without an account anymore, as an account is required to put the device into developer mode.

edit: I know you don't need a social media account to use a Quest, but it's Meta's tracking I want to avoid. When they first announced the requirement of a Facebook account it was discussed ad nauseum and essentially they wanted to make major changes to the Oculus TOS and how they track you outside of using the device. Meta at the time was the only VR company storing biometric data (Pico/Byte Dance may be doing that also). Making a new account was just a bridge too far. Pico 4 doesn't require any account whatsoever for PCVR use.

Not gonna lie, that UploadVR podcast (VR Download) on the Quest 3 almost made me pull the trigger and cop one yesterday. They described the lenses as having a very large sweet spot, to the point where you can get a clear image even if the IDP adjuster is set incorrectly. I ended up putting in an offer on ebay for a Pico 4 instead (Fukk Meta). If the offer doesn't go through, I may still end up with a Quest 3. I need something where my kids can use it without connecting to a PC (Wired or Wireless).

*Update* Buyer accepted my offer. Copped a used Pico 4 with about $150 in accessories (Comfort head strap, rear battery pack, Silicone face covers, etc) for $325. My guess is dude sold it to buy a Quest 3.

Been playing with my Pico 4 for a day now and it's a nice piece of hardware. The high resolution really stands out, as well as the large pancake lenses. The lenses don't looked to be properly coated as there is a massive amount of internal glare when there is white letters on a black screen. It's not just noticeable, it's downright annoying. It's similar to the lenses fogging up. That flaw aside it's still a great headset. Very light weight. The buyer included the BoboVR battery pack kit, so no issues with battery life given I have 2 hot swappable batteries. The official store has hardly any games, and nor does SideQuest. So without SteamVR I couldn't recommend it. After about 2 weeks, the newness will wear off and so will come back to the realization that VR doesn't have a hardware problem, but a software problem. Not enough AAA titles to keep people interested long term.

Assassin's Creed Nexus is a really impressive game on the Quest 3. It's 3:30ish in the morning and I'm messing with this. This is my second favorite gaming franchise ever but I objectively think this game is amazing. I'm just gawking at shyt, walking through the city like

:mjcry:

This shyt is so beautiful. UBI's first time at this shouldn't be so dope but it is.
