It's harder to defend LeBron that way with the Cavs cause Iman and JR can both get to the rim, so even if they're covered man to man they can still blow by their defender. Look at all the times Iman got by Dunleavy and Niko tonight, he was killing you guys off the dribble, when the Cavs go small they have 4 ball handlers which is incredibly rare for a team to have. They legit had 4 dudes on the floor that were a threat to shoot, dish, or drive tonight.

Last year nobody outside of LeBron could create a shot, even if it were a bailout, this Cavs team even without Love is still dangerous cause of the Iman/JR smith combo when they go small. Those two guys averaged 13ppg each vs you, it's hard to win a series when two different role players can get double digits like that. When the Cavs go small It turns LeBron into a PF, and then you have to guard one of their wings with somebody that has no business guarding them because Butler had to be on LeBron.
Cavs put 4 perimeter players on the floor and Thibs puts 3 perimeter players on the floor (one being Dunleavy) and 2 bigs.

Them going small shouldn't of hurt Chicago as much as it did. Thibs refused to matchup with them. The 2nd and 3rd best perimeter defenders (Snell and Moore) were buried on the bench.

:mjlol:

Thibs was not budging on leaving Noah/Hinrich in games together man. And it seemed like every time Taj or Noah was paired with Jones they would get lost and give up a 3. I don't think any other team/coach in the post season will allow this kind of fukkery to go on for an entire series like Thibs did.

It's one thing to lose a series because you don't have enough to win it, but it's a completely different thing to lose a series like the Bulls just did (losing 3 games straight) because the coach's lineups go beyond basketball logic to most who are watching it play out.

JR and Iman can dribble but you would rather them be shooting off the dribble moreso than catching and shoot. Usually bron was getting them good looks where all they really had to do was square up. i rather have them (jr and iman) playing hero ball off the dribble rather than catch and shoot. chicago will have all summer to think about what they could have done though.

We been asking about Snell, but honestly Kirk should not have been playing over Moore either

You would think after this game that it would be apparent that Moore should play some if you need defense and a guy that can contribute offensively.

Lebron's ability to play/defend any position makes the matchups so tough when his team actually has guys to slot around him. The old Cav teams always has guards with huge weaknesses (or just plain horrible) and big men with limitations (can't guard Howard, can't chase Rashard, etc.) The Miami teams never had a legit PG or center. This Cav team, when mildly healthy, is the first time he's had guys at every position who could hold their ground there.

Next year I want to see the Cavs do a sign-and-trade with Kevin Love to bring in a tough three. Someone like a Batum/Carroll who can play D and stretch the floor. Then they could do crap like this:

BASIC LINEUP

Mozgov
TT/Varejao
Lebron/Batum
Smith/Shumpert
Kyrie/Delly

HUGE LINEUP

Mozgov
TT/Varejao
Batum
Smith/Shumpert
Lebron

SMALL LINEUP

TT/Varejao
Lebron
Batum/Shumpert
Smith/Shumpert
Irving/Delly

BIG/SMALL LINEUP

TT/Varejao
Lebron (point forward)
Batum
Smith
Shumpert

It seems like it wouldn't be hard to deal Love for someone who'd be willing to give up a decent three (probably a backup center too, or filling in any slot from someone they lose next year). That would give the Cavs the most complete and versatile team in the NBA. The whole "this team is their matchup nightmare" scenario would drop out - they would dictate the situation against anyone.

He couldn't make any mistakes, I think he was holding the last roster spot, if he would have faltered in any way, they would have waived him.

But you're right, in the small time that he got out there, he always played good defense, and he always made good smart plays on offense. That game against OKC he was on Westbrook and looked great. And it's not like he hasn't been in the league for a few years, so him not playing him will always be a mystery to me.

There's a big difference between the regular season and the playoffs.... Hell Niko avg 20/9 in March/April... that should tell you something in the difference of competition :francis:
