Buying homes isn't that simple. You have to be able to save $10k to $50k before seeking a mortgage. If white people want to spend $2500+ to live in a 1 bedroom shack in the hood let em have it
Hopefully the brothers and sisters who are getting gentrified learn their lesson and acquire their new property in their new locales rather than simply renting.
Breh. Just stop it. Your in denial. Harlem is being gentrified. Y'all are getting push out all over NYC. Numbers don't lie breh.I personally don't see the decrease in black population cats is talking about , granted there's been a slight increase in white residents these past couple years but it's nothing alarming IMO
i think there is a thread in the Root that was made a year ago talking about this shytWe knew this already. It happened one year before Washington D.C If I'm correct.
Wrong.I see nothing wrong with this. Any Black people owning property there will benefit whether directly by selling or renting, or indirectly by increased market values. The only people who are hurting are those who weren't owning property in the first place. This collectively brings up everyone's market value.
Isn't the main problem that blacks were dumped into these 'ghettos' in the first placed and ostracized from the rest of the mainstream community? Or is it now that we just wanted exclusivity and can't stand it when other people come into where we originally thought of as our own, regardless of how derelict and crime-ridden we had kept it.
Whites and other ethnicities with money moving into these areas and improving the property value and overall area only helps fellow blacks who are also community minded and want to improve their own standing. Ain't nothing wrong with that.
The Latino and Asian populations are still growing and the black population hasn't really declined that muchI'm surprised this article didn't get more attention.
It's like...in 25 years, will there be any people of color in New York City?
You can say the same for virtually every major city in America , it's just not exclusive to NYC , but for some reason news platforms is taking it way out of proportion when dwelling on the topic ... the only borough i'll say is in critical when it comes to gentrification is Brooklyn but Harlem is still good breadBreh.
